What exactly is Q Anon? And how exactly did it pan out?

I know some details and I have overheard people mentioning it. When I search it up I just see articles about it, articles with updates or opinions, or things compiling details. They say it came from 4chan but what exactly is it and why can't I see anything outside of what people say about it? Also there must be more to it if more than half the US population apparently believes that this anonymous person spewing crazy stuff is qualified and telling the truth. Someone please break it down for me in a way that's not just "people getting news off Facebook/podcasts".

I'm not in the US or from the US so I also don't know who everyone is or anything outside of the files or general government. I know I've been in a hole for a few years but all the stuff is way too overwhelming to pay attention to and I don't even know which outlets or sources to go by.

ELI5: Percentages on nutrition labels

If caloric intake drastically varies from person to person based on personal preference and other factors, what is the point of percentages? Don't nutritional needs and limits vary for everyone instead of depending on calories?

I know there's an entire science behind this but how often is it that someone with the same body type is consuming the same amount of calories and needs a certain percentage exactly? Even if someone follows nutritional labels to tee eating 2k calories how likely is that percentage of sugar or carbs or minerals to apply to them based on limits and needs? There are also foods that interact with one another due to factors like acids and fiber, so doesn't the type of food completely cancel out percentages or amounts to begin with?

Please give me a good town thriller or personal thriller that isn't just "Detective with personal struggles returns to solve the case"

I like small town stories or personal thrillers. Nowadays it's like every time a book looks interesting or might actually go somewhere, there's always a detective taking front stage, and they are always returning to their hometown after catching wind about something. It's as if the horrible crime or victim is a device that paves the way for the detective's personal issues.

This trope is beaten to death especially in free or self published fiction. I know there are still some expectations where it's done well. I enjoyed Sharp Objects and how much attention the victims, town, and reporter equally received and how the character was personally affected with real goals. I'm hoping for something that will reach me in a similar way, not exactly the same format or a similar book to it but something as developed and tangible.

I'd love a recommendation. The more disturbing the better.

Seeking something extremely extreme that functions as an actual story rather than existing just for shock or content

There are a lot of things I've enjoyed but I think we can agree that most extremely extreme horror, or at least the popular recommendations, tend to be full of shock factor or exist solely for the content. The Troop is a good example of what I'm not working for, just empty violence with nothing to really take from it since we already have things like Lord of the Flies. I'm looking for something that's more like a genuine horror story but simply takes it too far and takes advantage of the ability to go hog wild with extreme topics, gore, despair, you name it. I've read a few Jon Athan books and I enjoyed the extreme transparency and brutality of humans but I'm hoping for something with more of a tangible plot, as if I picked something up off the shelf in the horror section

Gone to See the River Man is more what I'm looking for but with far more character development. He actually managed to freak me out content wise though I'm nervous to dive into his other books just because I was put off by the lack of proper development in that one and the build up didn't really work for me. American Psycho is another good example though I would prefer something more average,

Sub like what Shower Thoughts used to be, or something as interesting

Nowadays Shower Thoughts is increasingly becoming full of really mundane or unspoken things everyone agrees with or just closed ended "what if" ideas or actual shower-related things, like people noting how warm the water is today. Every single time I try to post, even if my search comes up clean, I get removed for my thought not being original or for being speculative. I miss what it used to be. Stoner thoughts too, I think the real one got removed and now it's just people having dry conversations.

I'm just bored looking for something similar or as good.

Please, something with the intensity of the cellar scene in Gone to See the River Man

I have many issues with the writing and characters of the book, but that cellar scene got me so well. The intensity of it, the "jumpscare" of the cellar door, everything, including the tension of "who" that wasn't held for too long. I'm desensitized to horror and that made me feel actually scared and sick. Please recommend me something

What "pure" or not realistic horror was too scary for you to finish?

By pure horror, I mean entirely fictional. Cliche, or niche, ghosts or monsters or haunting or phenomenon etc rather than transgressive, medical, societal, historical, realistic fiction. A lot of DNF on here are realistic fiction or otherwise contemporary/transgressive, and I totally understand why, but I'm wondering if someone couldn't finish something such as a creature story.

It and other Stephen King stories don't count, he scares everyone.

Please recommend something with a romantic or gentle monster similar to Edward Scissorhands or Frankenstein's monster from the new movie

I find gentle monsters very attractive, it's a guilty pleasure of mine. I'm looking for one with similar looks and demeanor to Edward or the monster from the recent Frankenstein movie.

26f looking for someone to send unsolicited book raves, memes and food pics, and Barry Allen pictures to at random times

I don't have many friends and I'm the only person I know who reads a lot so I have no one to really rave to. I would like to hear your stories too especially scary ones. Looking for book recommendations always.

I like to harass my dad and friends with Barry pictures because I'm a fangirl but my dad just told me to stop because he's really busy lol so I'm looking for a victim of my contextless wrath

In general I'm lonely and on occasion I have memes or food pics. Probably at 2 am my time when I have random girl dinner. I use only discord

A book that is completely its own thing, or not a spin on a common trope

I'm looking for some things that aren't the basic horror, such as your average crime, or possession or haunted house, abandoned town, monster/creature or anything along those lines. I'd like something that is its own thing, completely original or fresh. I don't mean a unique spin on common horror or a trope being turned on its head, the only exception for that is crime or thriller where something is done vastly differently or there's something for me to follow.

I look for unique books and commonly see recommendations like September House. That was a really good book that did a major spin, but it is still about a character responding to a haunted house and being trapped in one. How to Sell A Haunted House wasn't exactly about the haunted house but it still had the haunted house in its formula, the haunted house was a catalyst. Fiend was extremely interesting but is still a zombie story. Gone Girl was written wonderfully and the twist is one of my favorites however it's still about a missing person/cold case and to me, the twist is the big thing that defies the expectation.

I'm looking for something new and different, like Cipher, Needful Things, Dead Eleven. The concepts were fresh. I really liked HOL but I'm also reading digitally so I'm hoping for something that completely relies on a story rather than on formatting and other factors.

I'll take suggestions similar to The Push. It holds up on its own, and doesn't lean on or otherwise fight the trope in my opinion.

I did like The Dinner by Herman Koch. Even though that is a more mild example of what I'm asking for, it was still really fun to follow while going in completely blind not knowing exactly what the character was stalling on. There was also more to take away from it rather than just the crime that happened.

There was this book I read a long time ago about a mother and daughter and I couldn't tell who was lying or what was really going on, I'm not sure what it was called but I hope someone knows what I am talking about. That book had me in a loop and I almost forgot I was reading a thriller.

Fight Club, though not horror, did have a twist that we can expect nowadays with how overdone the twist is, but I still really enjoyed it because it's not something that you read or watch everyday. There are things beyond just violence or that twist.

I don't mean to talk down about any books that I mentioned. They are wonderful books, it's just me being incredibly desensitized to horror. I don't expect the quality of the recommendations to be stellar otherwise the books would probably be very well known. I'm expecting the books to be relatively obscure and maybe not the best quality.

Please give me a book about found footage, especially videotapes, that is different from the other recommendations

I'm really craving something about footage, I'm especially into found videotapes. Everything that comes up on Google or threads is good but it's not what I'm looking for, or it's just the same stuff being recommended over and over. I know this is not really an easy premise to write for because of the lack of visual freedom in a novel compared to a movie but hopefully someone has something here that's done differently from the others or is worth looking into, even if it's obscure or not really the same quality as most things out there.

Seeking dark academia or academia in general that goes into philosophy or humanity or ethics or human horrors rather than fantasy or supernatural

I've been searching and the closest I get is crime books. I'm hoping more for something that goes into humanity, maybe American Psycho style of not philosophical or ethical. Ideally it takes place in high school or private school.

Thank you for suggestions.

Looking for mother or sister figure long term, unconditional

I've been through very extreme things. Would like support but not necessary, I'm looking for the company long term and I'll be here to support you regardless.

I had a very difficult relationship with my mother and ended up cutting her off at a very young age. I think about my little sister every day and I have so many unanswered questions and holes in my life. I'm trying to improve myself and I struggle with anything beyond just surviving, hate to admit that.
