Last day for the auction of this M1165
I am getting really nervous. The auction ends today.

This truck is 98% done and will be auctioned in the next couple weeks on Bring a Trailer.
I made a walk around introduction. Hope you like it and let me know if I missed anything, made a mistake or if you want more info.
I will also release an interior walk around shortly.

Here is a quick video of driving a M1097 2 door (without doors)...
Help settle an argument.
If you were building the ultimate HMMWV expedition camper, which color would you choose?

Here is a schematic of military wheels. They are 2 parts bolted together to hold the tire with the help of the run flat as a bead locker.
In this case, there are 12 bolts holding the 2 halves together, however, on heavier trucks, there are 24 bolts patterned in pairs.
M1097 A2 in fantastic mechanical shape. Needs nothing. Open canvas to customize as you wish.
I ran this Humvee M1165 on the freeway for the 1st time. All passed.
Why is there no mute button on the steering wheel of just about every car I have ever driven.
The worse is my Tesla Model X.
You can turn the system off and turn the volume up and down, but no real mute button.
Drives me nuts.
Some projects are bought.
Others are commissioned.
This one will be built for someone who understands the difference.
More to come...
AM GENERAL - M1097 - 6.5l NA Diesel paired to a 4 speed (OD) 4L80e.
This is an ex-Army truck and has been well taken care of. It currently shows 10,175 miles on the odometer, and given the shape of the truck, I believe it is accurate.
I restore these HMMWV's and don't plan to touch this one this year, so, thinking of selling it as-is.
Having said that, this truck has been completely gone through and is in pristine condition mechanically.
All fluids were completely flushed and replaced, including the hubs.
The fuel tank was dropped, completely cleaned and the strainer replaced (it needed it)...
Brakes and steering were adjusted and working as designed.
It needs absolutely nothing except a little imagination to transform it into anything you desire. It could use a good coat of paint, but the body is absolutely straight and needs no work. All it needs is sanding, masking and painting.
Wheels are military 24 bolt rims with military GoodYear Wrangler tire 37x12.5x50R16.5 with good thread and no sign of dry rot.
This truck is 24V and requires a converter to operate 12V accessories.
New parts:
- Driving lights - NOS
- ECM - NOS
- Start box + Sensor - NOS
- Soft top, back curtain and doors
- Windshields - Automotive glass
- Wipers
I have plenty of parts at the shop if you wish to customize the truck, plus I have tons of pictures and ideas I can share with you.
Honestly this is not a daily driver type of truck, even when fully restored. It requires attention.
If you are looking for a monster truck, keep walking. The engine on this is 160HP and although it has plenty of torque, it feel comfortable around 55MPH. A few upgrades like civilian rims and tires, softer shocks and adding a turbo may help a bit to run it to about 65 comfortably.
The truck is registered in NH and legal on-road. The title has been applied and may take a few weeks to show up.
Asking $24,900
Happy to answer any questions.
Finally got the right side all done. On to the driver side…
First drive post restoration. Will post more in the coming days. Tell me what specifically you would like to see?
I have created a suite of tools you may find useful if you own a Humvee or plan to in the future.
You can decode your truck’s serial number and model# either by entering it or uploading a photo of your data plate.
There is also one of the largest library of files, TM’s, and relevant info.
