Tips for a newbie

To you lovely green fingered folks, we would like put some Lavender plants in this flower bed. Any tips/tricks like how many plants? Should I put some gravel in the earth? I tried to do it a couple of years ago and they died! It’s roughly 1.5 metres, north facing.

Advice needed for a non plumber!

Hi! Help needed. The extent of my plumbing knowledge is that I know you can turn on a tap and water comes out… We just had a survey for an ASHP boiler and our water pressure is very low (he said flow rate was 7 LPM to current boiler). He suggested changing the connection to the incoming mains might help solve the issue. Do you amazing people agree or know how to fix it? We have no water leaks and the pipe from the mains was replaced around 8 years ago by water company.

Hi, argh. We ran out of oil. Got it delivered today but it won’t restart. (Worcester Bosch green star heatslave 2). We found instructions on how to bleed but cannot see how to take the cover off the riello pump. The ‘bit’ above seems unmovable. Any ideas?

What the hell am I doing wrong? In this instance, I blanched the skin, pricked hundreds of holes using a tooth pick, salted for 10 minutes. Wiped off, poured vinegar over the top (and rubbed in) then left uncovered for 30 hours in the fridge. In the oven at 230 on a rack (with scrunched up foil underneath so the surface of the belly was even) cup or two of water. I’ve read countless ‘fool proof’ methods for crackling but they are always hit and miss.
