BEng Mechanical Engineering

My husband wants to do Mechanical Engineering but he can't find a student on the speak to a student page for engineering. so I was wondering does anyone know;

  1. if there is anything practical involved in the mechanical engineering and how much of the year is practical? or is it all theoretical and book based.
  2. what can he expect from the exams/hand ins
  3. how many days a week does it usually involve
  4. how common are the work experience/placements that are listed on the course page
  5. how successful are graduates in finding graduate work in industry

Thank you so much for your help in advance

Advice for Career

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to help my husband find the right course. He's a qualified mechanic but wants to take a degree in mechanical engineering but he's worried about studying a degree then not being able to find work without experience (we've been burned before with degrees) and i am less than useless with this as i know nothing about engineering. So would you recommend an OU degree where he can carry on working as a mechanic and do work experience or would you recommend taking a degree at a brick uni like Bournemouth and just powering through the 3 years with low income? Purely from an employability point of view.

Thank you so much for the help

TLDR:// husband is a mechanic is it better to take a open university degree or brick university degree to become a mechanical engineer?

(UK) what is a day like as a physiotherapist?

Im currently a Biomed student but after work experience realised i want to side step into a career working with paitents rather than in the lab. Ive been given a few options and physio is one. Could i get some advice on what a day looks like, what types of jobs a physio can work as other than in a hospital etc.

Thank you to all in advance.

Advice: I've just got my first interview for work after 5 years of agoraphobia

I've just got my first interview for work at Pizza Hut after 5 years of agoraphobia and mostly working on line for startups which never lasted very long (they went under not me in that case). I feel like i want to try but I'm also terrified about going in and starting in person work again and how i will manage. It 5 minuets away from my house but family members have offered to take me to and from work until i can walk there myself, I can now be home alone and i'm managing to go round supermarkets and wonder round places on my own when i'm dropped off.

do any elder agoraphobic jedi's have any advice for returning to work after a LONG in person hiatus. Making this work would change my life for the better and get me out of a really bad situation so i want it to work really badly but the existential crisis of working for Pizza Hut for the rest of my life scares the shit out of me.

Ty in advance x

Cooper Confidential

Seen some people ask what Cooper Confidential is like and just wanted to put my experience out there. I had it for a month, i was originally going to get it for the year but after subscribing I'm really glad I didnt. I subscribed mostly for the farm blogs that had been advertised on Youtube and I was really disappointed to find that they were mostly less than 5 minuets long and pretty few and far between. I don't mind the Youtube sponsorships so to me the subscription wasn't worth it for the additional content. If you want ad free or just want to support Brett, 100% go for it but if like me you wanted to see more lifestyle content in addition to the main show maybe wait till the end of the year and watch it over a month to save some money.

Struggling with walking my dog. (throwaway account)

I'm 4 years agoraphobic but I've got to the point i can go out with my partner. recently he bought a beautiful puppy that i adore and we go out to walk him. the only problem I have is i keep getting stopped and agressively almost told off by older women. Today is the latest. It went up to 30'C where i live so i waited till half 5 to walk him and we went out bear foot on the pavement to make sure it wasnt too hot. I had this women, maybe around 60s pull up in her car at the side of me (at first i thought she wanted directions) she asked me if i wanted a lift. I was really confused i've never seen this woman before in my life. when i said no thank you she then went on to berate me about taking my dog out while it was so hot - while other male dog walkers walked past me with thier dogs. I don't get why she stopped me and not them. and this isnt the first time ive been told off by older women. another woman shouted at me for picking my dog up and carrying him in a garden center cafe because "needs to learn how to walk". i just didnt want him stealing someones cake. granted i live in a more densly older area but im getting so anxious about leaving my house because people keep coming up to me when i'm just trynna live. has anyone managed this before?
