Partner moved into her own own place and her ex showed up at the place because they also work for my partners dad. I mean im sure they could have called him, its like they were trying to make a statement by driving over.

I was out there unloading stuff when her ex pulled up, they didn't even acknowledge me, I was right there, I gave a wave, still nothing.

I've said hi 3 times to said person over the span of 2 years and everytime I get more acknowledgement from random people I walk by on a sidewalk.

The whole situation is weird especially because her ex is engaged to another woman in a different town and i feel like im some hated evil person for trying to have normal human interaction.

I told my partner i felt super disrespected and made me feel like shit that i couldnt even be acknowledged. All she said was "well my ex is a stranger so dont expect a conversation with strangers" basically.

I didnt want to start an argument but i just said ok fine. But clearly givien the situation this person is not a fucking stranger and the least they can do is try to make eye contact with me and say hello when they show up at my partners new place which ive voiced I wouldnt be comfortable with in the first place.

Why does my partner just brush off shit like this? I said i felt shitty and it was awkward and all she says is "too bad".

This is shit and gives me even more reason to leave.

According to google:

"RDSP withdrawals, including realized capital gains, are fully exempt as income under the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), regardless of the amount. You do not need to report this withdrawal as income to ODSP, as all withdrawals for any purpose are exempt."

"Realized capital gains withdrawn from an RDSP are taxable, reported on Form T4A, Box 131, and must be included in your income tax return. However, net RDSP payments are generally exempt as income for Rent-Geared-to-Income (RGI) housing calculations in many Ontario jurisdictions, meaning they likely won't increase your rent."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit: I know if you make a realized capital gain in a TFSA its income in the eyes of both housing and ODSP but now im not so sure about the RDSP, though the only con is that it would will be taxed, up to 30% if you sell and withdraw a gain from an RDSP.

Also, I'm unsure how capital gains on your tax return would look so RDSP income may effect my rent a couple times per year depending on how often you trade and withdraw, it may also increase the rent every month for the entire year depending on how it effects my tax return.

Again, google: "50% of your capital gains are added to your total income on your tax return and taxed at your marginal rate. This portion is known as the "taxable capital gain". Only half of the profit is taxed"

So, i guess the 2nd quote in the post is wrong since withdrawing a profit from the RDSP would effect your tax return?

I find it weird that RGI housing views TFSA realized capital gains as income because it doesn't effect your annual tax return (which is what they use to calculate your rent).

So, I feel like investing with a TFSA is the best option if you think you wont be accepted to the DTC again, and if you make a decent profit, you don't get taxed, your rent doesn't shoot up for the entire year, but you may lose your entire ODSP for the month or a couple times per year depending on how often you withdraw.

Also, if you have low income hydro or internet you may have say bye bye to that too if you withdraw too much from an RDSP lol.

Basicially never withdraw from an RDSP because you will get screwed, never withdraw or sell a stock within a TFSA because you will get screwed. Am i wrong here?

I feel like i need to be some kind of investing/tax wizard and a full time income reporter just to make a 1000$, why the hell cant i make 4 trades per year in a TFSA and withdraw a grand of profit without getting screwed? And is ODSP gonna give me the money they retracted if i lose $800 6 months later from a realized capital loss in a TFSA? No they wont.
