Singing to my cat but seeking human feedback

Cat tax. I shared this on socials but I don’t receive feedback, so I would love to have any critique and input on the lyrics. I’m working on being more descriptive and I’m not sure if it’s too much or just enough. Only sharing the chorus since I don’t have the full song finished yet.

Hopefully this format is allowed. Sorry to mods if not! Delete it and I’ll be on my way

Trying to add more imagery in my lyrics

Working on being more descriptive. Dial it back? Clarify? Do more? Would love to know your thoughts. I’m still working on the rest of the song so I’ve only recorded the chorus.

Dipped in sweetness
Soft and pristine
Biting on cotton candy
Blinded by an angel beam

Got all the beauty
That my money can buy
Still, you don’t seem to want me
But I’m all that you like

Advice for your first open mic/songwriter’s club performance?

I figured I could get some helpful tips here! I observed a songwriter’s club the other day, and while it was inspiring, I also felt soo nervous even thinking about signing up to perform there next month.

Is there anything you’d recommend doing beforehand? Tech tips? Stage advice? Things I don’t think I’ll need but should bring anyways? I know it’s not that deep and I am likely overthinking this. Just curious.

I want to quit my job

…run away, and busy myself in solitude. But I also feel completely obligated to fulfill duties and make good in my career. What’s going on in my chart and why does my head feel like it’s going to explode?

A song called Thirty

I’ve done all I can do for now and I have listened to my own work too much, so it is time to give it away. I would love to know your thoughts.

Losing the magic when recording

Does anyone else experience this? It took a few years but I’m at the stage now where I’m creating demos. I keep reworking them, adding instrumentation, etc. Sometimes I get something I really like… but mostly it just seems like I keep chasing the feeling and sound of sitting with my guitar, pressing record and just singing.

I’m aware it’s a learning process that I won’t always enjoy, but yeah.

finally finished a demo: mostly guitar, tiny bit of viola, lots of melancholy

Here’s to anyone else completing their first demo :’)

Sharing it here since I’ve always gotten helpful feedback and criticism from this sub. what I could potentially work towards when it’s time to make a more polished version?

-

Always been a little lost
Spending time
Spinning around the same loop
Destroying myself to improve

Hiding in the darkened frost
The spark never finds me
Not even when he hands me green

So I drink some rum
To drown them out instead
Crossfaded as another song blends into the next

And every time I feel like crying
Sip and repeat
And every time I say I’m fine, I’m lying
Sip and repeat

Maybe it’s the 9 to 5s
The Sunday blues

Trapped myself inside a bottle
In the middle of the week
Had a nightmare
Told my mother I was trying therapy

I buy my escapism from the gas station
Thirty proof self-medication
Crossfaded as another day
Turns out all the same

And every time I feel like crying
Sip and repeat
And every time I say I’m fine, I’m lying
Sip and repeat

Maybe it’s the 9 to 5s
The birthday blues
Maybe I need something to blame
For all that I lose

Balancing synth bass

What plug-ins or reverb settings are helpful to give bass presence in the mix without being too boomy? I’m trying to get an authentic (enough) double bass presence without overpowering my live audio. Any other feedback in general as far as balance would be helpful!

Finally finished a demo

Posting it here because I’ve always received a lot of good feedback and criticism. Looking for input on mixing and the overall balance - anything that seems too loud, too soft, or misplaced
