How do you actually aim/direct your shots in pickleball?

This might be a stupid beginner question, but can someone explain aiming a shot to me like I’m 5?

For example, I’m at the baseline and see an opening crosscourt. I want to hit a forehand drive or two-handed backhand directly into that spot. What actually determines where the ball goes?

Is it mostly the direction the paddle face is pointing at contact? The direction of my swing? Where my body/shoulders are facing? Contact point?

Sometimes I’m looking at and aiming for one spot, make what feels like a decent swing, and the ball goes several feet in a completely different direction.

I’m basically looking for a childlike analogy like: “Your paddle face is the steering wheel, your swing does X, and your body does Y.”

How do you actually learn to point-and-shoot with some consistency?

Anyone intersted in a brand Titan One Ball Machine - Great Deal (MA, Will Ship)

Hey everyone,

I hope this is okay to post. I'm looking to sell my Titan One pickleball machine. It's located in Massachusetts, but I'm more than happy to ship it anywhere in the U.S.

It has only around 9 hours of use and is in excellent condition. The only reason I'm selling it is because I haven't been using it as much as I expected due to a knee injury.

Brand new, these are about $2,300 after taxes, but I'm willing to let mine go for significantly less to make it a great deal for someone.

If you're interested, feel free to send me a message. I'd be happy to provide photos, videos, answer any questions, or work out shipping. Thanks, and sorry if this isn't the right place!

26 years old and I can’t do a single chin-up — what’s the fastest way to get my first one?

’m 26 and recently started working out again after basically not exercising for years. I’m also overweight, so I know that’s making chin-ups harder.

I’ve been working out consistently for about 2 weeks now doing push-ups, dumbbell/bicep curls, forearm work, some running, etc. I have access to dumbbells, a pull-up bar, and rings.

Right now when I attempt a chin-up, I can get maybe 30% of the way up before I’m completely stuck. I’ve also been using the rings to do easier pulling movements and practice the general motion.

If my main goal right now is simply to get my first full chin-up, what exercise or progression should I focus on the most?

Is there one exercise that really helped you go from 0 → 1 chin-up?

Best acne scar specialist in the Boston/Massachusetts area?

I've finally decided to treat my acne scars, but I'm overwhelmed by all the options -- subcision, CO2 laser, RF microneedling, TCA CROSS, fillers, etc.

Can anyone recommend a dermatologist or acne scar specialist in the Boston/Massachusetts area? I'd love to hear who you saw, what treatments you had, and whether you were happy with the results. Thanks!

I’m 28M, been playing for about 9 months (~3.0 evel).

From the baseline I’m fine:

  • decent serve
  • good returns
  • feel in control

But at the kitchen line it’s a different story. If someone speeds it up or hits quick volleys, I’m just late every time, like I can't just react fast enough, I either freeze there or flinch. It feels like my brain and body are delayed. I end up backing up just to survive, which I know is bad.

This isn’t new either. Even when I played soccer as a kid, I was always slow to react. So part of me thinks it’s just how I’m wired.

I know people say anticipation matters more than reaction time, but even against beginners I still feel behind.

I do have:

  • a ball machine
  • a wall

So I’m willing to actually train this.

What I’m looking for:

  • specific drills to improve reaction time at the net
  • anything I can do solo
  • or honest answer if this is something that doesn’t really improve much

Is this fixable with the right drills, or do I just need to accept playing more from the baseline?
