Today, five mayoral candidates showed up to the Brampton Board of Trade debate, cohosted by Y Media, to face questions from business leaders, the media, and the public. Patrick Brown didn't show up.

The irony: Brown previously showed up to a Brampton Arts Organization/CBC Sept 15 debate, stayed two minutes, and left - to go do an interview with Y Media (last photo). He'll do Y Media when it's a friendly interview. He won't do Y Media when it's a debate with real questions.

And where was he today instead? At City Side Cafe - for an event billed as a "Grand Opening." His second ceremonial visit to the same shop. Back in May he was there for the actual opening: certificate, congratulations, photos. Today: flowers, handshakes, another certificate, more photos - for a cafe that's been open nearly a year.

There's a Rowena Santos sign in the cafe's window. Santos is part of Brown's political group. Maybe that means nothing.

He showed up twice for the friendly cameras and skipped the room full of questions. Photo ops over accountability: that's been the priority for 8 years.

This isn't about a cafe. It's about a mayor whose priorities are completely misguided.

Patrick Brown attended Tuesday's arts and culture debate and answered exactly one question before he left after five minutes. Then he posted a lengthy statement on X afterward, talking about how "happy" he was to be there and listing every arts investment his council has made.

He didn't stay to answer the questions the other candidates stayed for. He didn't stay to be accountable to the room. One answer and out, then a full write-up online as if he'd actually participated.

That's the real problem here. He'll write a few paragraphs on X about how great things are, but give him a room full of residents where he can’t control his failing narrative, and he's out after one question.

Vote Patrick Brown out on October 26.

Argo got a $10.9 million untendered transit contract from the City, approved in closed session with 86% of the FOI documents redacted. Argo is now one of four names on a $1 million cheque handed to the William Osler Foundation at Hockey Night in Brampton, standing next to Brown.

Money goes out to Argo with no public process, some comes back as a photo op. Months before an election. Great work Patrick Brown (sarcasm on his corruption).

Patrick Brown is running personal political ads on X and Instagram promoting himself as mayor - and billing the cost to Brampton taxpayers.

The ads are marked “Paid for by Patrick Brown,” but his own expense reports show he’s been claiming social media advertising costs back from the city. So taxpayers are effectively funding a personal political brand campaign disguised as a public safety message.

This isn’t how city communications work. Official messaging goes through the city’s account, not the mayor’s personal profile. Running self-promotional ads under your own name while charging residents for it is a clear ethical problem and a misuse of public funds.
