Ongoing Shin Splints

During marathon training earlier this year, I developed pain along the inside of my left shin/tibia. It would settle if I rested, but every time I started running again it came back.

My races are now finished, so I've been trying to get it to heal properly, but it's been lingering for around 4–5 months.

I've been seeing a physio who advised me to keep running, just at low mileage and an easy pace. It's improved slightly but still hasn't gone away.

I've also tried cycling instead of running, but that doesn't seem to make much difference. I've had one acupuncture session so far with another booked, but I haven't noticed any improvement yet.

At this point I'm running out of ideas. Has anyone dealt with something similar? What finally worked for you? Would you keep running through it, stop completely, or push for further investigation such as an MRI?

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Me and my wife, have been trying for almost 4 years, properly trying for the last 2, unfortunately miscarried in March 2025, been trying every ovulation window since but still no luck.

According to all tests me and my wife are absolutely fine, no reason we cannot conceive but it's just not happening for us. Conscious that something must be wrong.

What's people's advice on IVF, aware it's very expensive, what's the process like? Ultimately it's our decision but any thoughts? Any advice? Are we being impatient? Should we be even going down the IVF route?

Appreciate anyone's input 🙂
