What type of wood is this?
Can anyone tell me what type of tree this is and if I can use it in my aquarium? I think they’re two different species but I can’t ID them myself. They both fell several months ago

How do you find animal experience as an undergrad? (Not cats and dogs)
I have a job at a companion animal clinic, so I’m not looking for a job yet. I want mainly an internship or volunteering opportunity. I also want it to be in large animal, wildlife or exotics. I applied for an internship at the zoo but I really don’t know what to do beyond that. I’m a sophomore so I really want to get something soon. Any help is appreciated

Prettiest fish for 65 gallon?
Just got a 65 gallon tank and was interested in some nice looking fish. I was thinking discus but I heard 65 gallons isn’t enough for a group of 6, but correct me if I’m wrong please because I love discus. And if discus won’t work out, what other colorful freshwater fish are there? I’m not a beginner but I’m still learning so preferably some hardy species please. Thanks!
For reference the tank is 24.75 x 12.75 x 48.25 (roughly)

Fish dying
20 gallon tank has been set up for a couple months. Currently has two African dwarf frogs, one male guppy, and one female guppy. Originally had three females and one male but the other two females died with the same symptoms (body turned white past the head to before the tail and fast gill movement). Now the last female is looking wobbly. Water tested at a store and had slightly high nitrites. Started doing water changes but I’m worried. Second pic is her now and third pic is when I first got her. Please don’t judge, I’m a beginner and trying to get better. I thought I did all the necessary research. Any help is appreciated

Columbus Zoo internship experiences?
Does anyone have any experience with the animal care internships at the Columbus Zoo? i.e. the Congo expedition internship, elephant internship, etc. I’m trying to get some animal care experience as a pre-vet student and wanted to know how much animal interaction there actually is. Thank you!

My male brown tabby, neutered, is turning 14 in a week and recently he’s been pooping and peeing on the carpet. We moved into a new house in August of 2025 but he was fine until a couple weeks ago. He’s never done well with other cats but my brother’s cat is staying with us for some time. She’s stayed with us before and, while they don’t like each other, there were never any bathroom issues. This is also my first year in college but I come home every weekend.
Also, could be unrelated but he’s been getting dandruff on his back and I’m worried it’s because he’s not grooming himself, though I haven’t seen any huge issues.
He really really doesn’t do well with traveling or the vet so I’d like to avoid taking him more than I need to.
