i know it's not perfect, i did the best with the budget i had! the next thing i am doing is upgrading the speakers and finding them a better spot! i would like any advice you guys can give me!

Technics SL-5100 worth it?

Hello everyone. I am new to vinyl and been shopping for a good entry level vintage turntable that I could get used, I have around 200-300 $ CAD in budget. I just came across on marketplace a used Technics SL-5100 for 240$, but they say it needs a new cartridge and new RCA cable. Is it worth it? If not, do you guys have any recommendations?

Thanks so much!

really need help with my new set up

any help would be greatly appreciated, as my knowledge is fairly limited and i am unsure on how to move forward.

I have had a turntable for a while, specifically a 1 for one stereo turntable with built in speakers that was gifted by family. I recently decided to get myself an okay set up, so i bought active speakers (edifier R980T) and a phono pre-amp (ART DJ pre II). I have connected everything but the sound is absolutely horrible.

For some reason, my speakers can only play it too loud, and if I lower the volume, the music stops playing. But there's also hum, buzzing, static, everything you can imagine, it sounds horrible.

Also, my turntable confuses me : most of what i've read online says most turntables have a phono-line switch, but mine does not, it has a phono-usb switch (as shown in the picture). My pre-amp says line output-line input. Could that be the problem? I've already ordered a ground wire to reduce the hum but I have a feeling it won't fix all of the problems I'm having. Do I need to get a new turntable with the phono-line switch? I'm willing to but if there's something I'm missing please tell me! Or a new preamp with a phono input? I'm so confused!

Any advice or indication would be very much appreciated, thank you all.

gear question

hello everyone! i've had a turntable for quite some time, but i recently decided to make my experience better and finally got some decent speakers. i plugged in the speakers and it didn't work : after some research, i realized i needed a phono preamp. but i dont have much money left after buying my speakers. i was wondering if you guys think the micro phono pp500 was good enough? its pretty cheap but its the only one within my budget right now, otherwise i'd have to wait a bit.

thank you everyone, sorry i don't know much about turntables!

affordable date night in montreal

hello everyone, me and my girlfriend are celebrating our 5 year anniversary tomorrow but we're really tight on money, we can spend about 60$ each for a restaurant. we would like a cozy, date-like atmosphere, doesn't really matter what the food is, preferably BYOB but not necessary. would love all your recommendations!

Madonna essay

Hello everyone,

I am trying to write an essay about Madonna, what makes her so special as an artist, her cultural impact, etc. I was wondering if any of you knew of some articles or essays that are interesting and that could help me develop my thoughts about Madonna, specifically about her impact and her vision as an artist.

Thank you!
