It’s been a full month now in my small bedsitter near Roysambu Primary here in Nairobi, Kenya. Let me just say… this room has seen things. Dreams, plans, hunger, hope and me negotiating with my stomach like, “my friend, let’s be patient, better days are coming.”
I’ve been pushing hard. Advertising safari packages through Peerless Maasai Safaris and listing cars through Royal Car Market Ltd. If effort alone paid bills, by now I’d be writing this from a penthouse, not a bedsitter. But as life would have it, things have been slow. Very slow. The kind of slow where even your shadow looks at you like, “we need a breakthrough, bro.”
To survive, I’ve borrowed here and there just to get meals. And sometimes… even that hasn’t worked out. I’ve slept hungry more times than I can count. At this point, a proper meal feels like a VIP event with invitation only.
But here’s one thing about me, I truly love what I do. I love ensuring that people get the absolute best out of their Kenyan safaris. From the moment you arrive to the last game drive, I make sure every experience is memorable, smooth, and worth it. I don’t just organize trips, I create experiences. I take pride in being one of the best tour guides you’ll ever meet, and I always give my best to every client.
Through it all, I haven’t lost hope. Not even close.
I still wake up every day believing something good is on the way. I believe these two small businesses I’m building will one day stand tall. I picture a future where I have a stable home, a happy family, and a quiet, simple life. The kind where peace is louder than problems.
I’m naturally introverted, so I don’t talk much about my struggles. I carry a lot silently. But today, I decided to share a piece of my journey. Not for pity, but for connection… and maybe a little support.
My birthday is coming up on 10th May. I won’t lie, what I’m really wishing for isn’t cake or candles. It’s a turnaround. A breakthrough. A sign that all this effort, all these sleepless nights, and all this faith will finally pay off.
If you’ve ever been in a place where things felt stuck, then you understand this space I’m in. And if you’re in a position to support, whether by booking a safari, referring a client, buying a car, or even just sharing this, you’d be part of a story that’s still being written.
For bookings, referrals, or any support, feel free to reach me at info@peerlessmaasaisafaris.com
And when things finally work out (because they will), I’ll look back at this moment and laugh… probably while eating a full meal without checking my balance first.
Better days are coming. I can feel it.
