Wife Having Cataract Surgery - Questions About Anesthesia & One or Two Eyes At A Time

Hi,

My wife is in early 80's, needs cataract surgery in both eyes. Right eye is lazy eye.

A. ANESTHESIA

She is worried about anesthesia as in other operations/procedures in past, she gets very nauseous after full anesthesia and takes quite a well for her to get over it.

Curious whether people get full anesthesia or lighter sedation, etc.

Would be great to hear your experience with this; what type did you get and how did it go.

B. SURGERY ON ONE OR BOTH EYES

Would like to hear from anyone that had surgery done on both eyes at one time, how did it go, and would you suggest doing both at one time or separately.

Thanks for all input!

[CA] DMV - Vision Driving Test - Questions

My wife needs to do the California 'Vision Driving Test', as the DMV people call it. This is different than the regular driving test.

She has questions about it such as:

  1. Will the DMV tester give instructions like "Turn left at the stop sign" or will they say, " Turn left onto Poplar Avenue".

Asking as she has some issue reading the street signs from far away when the letters are small like on residential neighborhood size signs.

  1. Will they likely ask her to pull over to side of road and then back up straight for 50 feet?

If so, how far away from curb can she be?

And how close to curb can she be?

Do they expect you to backup in one continuous movement or can you backup a bit, pause, and go back some more, pause and go, etc?

  1. She has a new car with a lot of great technology and safety features. For example, there is no emergency hand brake lever. When you turn off car, it automatically goes into Park and sets brake.

When parking, it will beep if you get too close to a car or other objects.

When going in Reverse, the center display comes on with camera view.

Any issues with the above?

Thanks,

Mark

[California] Told at DMV to Make Vision Driving Test Appt - But Cant Make Appt Online!

My wife needs to do a 'vision driving test'.

Yesterday at DMV was told she can make appt online after she got a temporary license.

Just tried to do this online and get error message, "Your not eligible for a driving test".

Tried selecting another day for the appt but get same message.

Anyone had this issue and how did you fix it?

Thanks for your help!
