How do you deal with feeling like the outsider in a group of friends?

I am in a bit of a dilemma right now in the world of friendship. I am apart of a friend group of about 4 different couples. It is 4 women and 4 men. 3 of the 4 women are family (sisters & cousins). Which I know can make the dynamic tricky to begin with. I am the the 4th woman and was brought into the group through my partner three years ago. I am currently struggling with feeling like an outsider in this group, specifically with the women.

Firstly I want to say I am aware they are family, that is a life long relationship and bond. I do not expect someone who has only known them for 3 years to be as important to them as their family relations. I do however feel I am valid in being a little tired of constantly feeling like I am on the outside. Only one of these ladies reaches out to me consistently to plan hang outs outside of group functions, even though I know the 3 of them get together more consistently. When I do hang out with them a majority of their talking points are reminiscing on old stories of when they were growing up, or family members, or other things that I'm happy to sit and listen to for a time, but there's not much I can add to their family stories and they don't seem much interested in me sharing my own. I've also noticed that I really only feel "close" to some of these women when they're using me as a venting station about one another. Which I honestly don't love that being the only time I'm shown the closeness I want to feel with these women is when they are shit talking one another and then once the dust settles I feel like I'm right back to the outside of the pack. I'm 31 and honestly entering a phase in my life where I want friendships that are deep, reciprocal, and connective. Not ones where I'm only pulled close as a sounding board and then pushed away once my purpose is served.

Two of the men are life long best friends with my partner so I would never do anything to jeopardize those relationships for him, but I also worry about how I can continue moving through this dynamic without starting to feel bad about myself and why these ladies don't seem interested in forging a deeper bond with me.

Do you ever just sit and think how they were a stranger and now they're your entire world?

Do you ever just sit and think about how you and your partner started as complete strangers at one point and now that is the most important person in your life? I think about it often and it just fills me with the warm fuzzies.

My fiancé and I met 4 years ago on Tinder of all places. Neither of us were looking for anything serious but also weren't super into hookup culture either. So we chatted for about a month until we finally made a date. Four years later he asked me to marry him in the same spot we first met and it is just crazy to me that two strangers, who had lived in the same city for years, hit it off on a dating app and quickly became the most important people in each others lives. I've never known a love or loved like this before. Sure I have been in love, but it has never been this sure and calm. I don't question if my partner loves me. I don't question if he considers me. I know he does, he shows me without provocation, in little ways every single day.

We've been engaged for 3 months now, and I just grow more and more sure and excited to marry this man and get wedding planning.

Choose your fighter: Mulberry Silk Bonnets / Pillow Cases vs. Satin?

I would like some weigh ins on the mulberry silk vs satin debate. I currently sleep in a satin bow bonnet and use a satin pillow case. Recently however I haven't love the way my bonnet has been making my hair feel, or the way it makes it look in the morning. I can also tell it makes my head hot through out the night which I don't love. So I have been less consistent with wearing it, which I'm not loving the results of either. I have fine, Irish curly hair so it gets frizzy easily.

I have seen a lot of ads and videos/posts about mulberry silk (mostly the Blissy brand) and have thought about making the switch. The biggest thing is the price. I don't mind a higher price tag for a quality item, but I want to know this product is worth it. I'm not dead set on Blissy, so if there are other brands you've tried and trust let me know. I truly want recommendations, opinions, or reviews.

Dear Downtown Indy Drivers

Hey when the walk sign is on for a crosswalk then you have to yield to pedestrians. That is whether you are attempting to make a turn through the crosswalk or not. Walk sign on = people walking. Let me be clear this is only for when the walk sign is on. I see plenty of people just walking out into traffic and that I don’t condone. But too many times just this week (it’s Tuesday mind you) have I been waiting to cross the street safely when some selfish twit who shouldn’t have a license comes along thinking my life is way less important then the turn they need to make.

It seems many are unaware of the rules when it comes to crosswalks and making a turn through an active crosswalk. So I hope this refreshed you since a lovely, but confused woman, in a Grey RAV4, license plate U087270 (that iPhone zoom goes crazy) decided to scream at me for using a cross walk while the walk sign was active because it stopped her from turning on to E. Washington and spending more time sitting at the red light at Meridian.

I'm a casual / hobby rider but wanting to become more serious. Give me some good tips and tricks for finding my bike fit and over all being more comfortable on long distance rides!

Like the title says I'm 32F living in Indiana, USA. I have been a casual / hobby rider for a few years now. I bought my 47" Trek Lexa on Facebook Marketplace about 4 years ago and have put some serious miles on her. I do however think this bike is much too small for me as I am 5'5 and around 230lbs. I feel a lot of pressure in my wrists when I ride and feel like I am always sitting very forward in my saddled even when I take a moment to readjust.

While I have and do ride my bike often I know there are things I could do / should do to make my riding experience much more comfortable. I have tried to do some research on my own but the amount of information and opinions is overwhelming. I'm hoping some of you wonderful ladies on this sub could give me some pointers or recommendations. I just recently bought my first pair of padded briefs from a recommendation on this sub and I love them. I never rode with pads before this and now I see why they are a necessity lol. MY daily ride is around 10-12 miles and before I got the pads my butt and crotch would be on fire about halfway through my ride, but after one ride with my pads I wasn't nearly as uncomfortable by the end of my ride.

Any advise or recs for good bike shops / website/ resources are greatly appreciated. I'd like to get back to doing a daily 15-20 miles, but I need to make some serious upgrades for my comfort before I can do that. Thanks in advance!

I caught coworkers making snarky comments about me. I want to leave this job anyway, but should I say something or just let it go and keep it professionally distant until I find something new?

We had a Spring outing for work a few weeks ago and I overheard two coworkers making snarky comments about me. Not only does it hurt because of the comments but it hurts because I had started to feel comfortable enough with these coworkers to start to let my playful personality shine through when before I tried to keep interactions short and surface level professional.

The fun part is one of these coworkers is one of the two upper level managers I am an admin for. Before this happened I thought she was a sweet, almost mother like figure and I really enjoyed working for her. Now I see her as catty and just like all the other older women I have encountered in this company. The other coworker is someone I have personally known to be bitchy, but I do enjoy knowing I have the confirmation now.

I am currently in the early stages of starting to look for a new company so I'm trying to decide how I should handle this. After incidents like this it is in my nature to either completely go ghost on people or to confront them and see if they'd like to talk about their grievances like an adult but I clearly can't do either of those in this situation. Honestly the more I think about it the more I am leaning towards not saying anything, but absolutely clamming back up and no longer being anything but professional and distant with these two going forward.

My feelings are also just hurt. Being back in a corporate office feels like I'm back in high school with all the catty women, gossipy men, and cliques. Why can't people just be nice, kind, and just do their jobs?

Why do Managers / Execs Act Like They Also Didn't Start From the Bottom?

I am back in corporate after 10 years working in family owned businesses and my first questions is why do some managers / execs act like it is such a chore to be approachable and kind to their subordinates? Working in a family owned business has it challenges, but I never experienced my ownership treating me like I was too beneath them to acknowledge.

I've been with my current company for about a year and in that time I have resorted to just being a person who comes in quietly, goes to her office, and doesn't really socialize, which is not like me at all. But this is where I am because when I have tried to say "hello, good morning, how was your weekend" I have been flat out ignored. I've given compliments on outfits and hair to some of the lady execs (I'm 31F) and most of the time I am only acknowledged with a flat "thanks" and no eye contact. Now let's be clear I am not expecting these people to become my new water cooler buddies, or even start a conversation with me after this. However, I do find it pretty gross that these people are not even trying to hide that they feel I am beneath them and that the last thing that want to be doing is interacting with me at all.

I just don't think people being stuck up and acting like they are too good for me to be approaching them will ever sit right with me.
