Bullish reversal candidates from this week's close — confirmed reversal candles at oversold RSI on elevated volume (US equities)

Ran my screener for a specific setup over the week's closes: confirmed bullish reversal candlestick patterns, RSI oversold (≤30), on elevated volume (1.5x+ average). The idea is capitulation + a reversal candle + real participation showing up at the same time.

What came through:

  • SPXC (SPX Technologies) — Hammer, RSI 26, 1.8x vol, MACD crossed up
  • SAFE (Safehold) — Spinning Top, RSI 16, 1.9x vol
  • MCHB (Mechanics Bancorp) — Hammer, RSI 24, 1.6x vol
  • EXC (Exelon) — Hammer, RSI 26, 1.5x vol
  • COUR (Coursera) — Bullish Harami, RSI 30, 2.2x vol
  • SMG (Scotts Miracle-Gro) — Piercing Pattern, RSI 26, 1.9x vol
  • CMS (CMS Energy) — Bullish Engulfing, RSI 30, 1.8x vol

Oversold doesn't mean exhausted — RSI can stay pinned under 30 while price keeps sliding. So I treat these as watch, not buy: the reversal candle and volume say buyers showed up once; confirmation is price actually following through (close above the pattern high) over the next session or two. No follow-through, no trade.

SAFE (RSI 16) and COUR (2.2x vol) stand out on the extremes. Not advice, just sharing the screen — curious how others filter these, and whether you'd wait for MA reclaim before touching a name that's still below everything.

$ABT: Bullish Harami + Golden Pocket + Oversold RSI

$ABT printed a bullish-harami on October 2, closing at 97.50 after a sustained decline from the late-August high. Price has given back much of the rally that carried it from the high 80s into the 116 area, and the pattern showed up right at the recent low.

What makes me interested is where that pause is happening. $ABT is sitting in the Fibonacci golden pocket, while RSI is 28.57 and a MACD cross is in play. Relative volume was 0.99x, so there was nothing unusual about the volume behind the candle. Taken together, I read the setup as a potential pause in a stretched decline rather than a random bullish candle in the middle of nowhere.

The obvious counterargument is that this is still a stock that has been selling for several weeks, so the harami could simply mark a temporary pause before the decline resumes. That is why the candle itself matters less to me than how price handles its high and low over the next few sessions.

A close above the mother candle’s high within the next few sessions confirms the setup; a close below its low invalidates it, with a stop a few ticks below that low.

$MCD: Heavy Volume as a Doji Prints at the 52W Low

$MCD printed a doji at 248.24 on 2026-09-18 as the decline from the August high continued into a new 52-week low. The move has been persistent rather than a single sharp break: after reaching 276.26 in early August, price has worked lower for 31 sessions, with only brief interruptions along the way.

The obvious counter-argument is that a doji at a new 52-week low can simply reflect hesitation inside an ongoing decline, not a turn. That is exactly why the shape matters more than the name here. The session pushed to a fresh low, but the close finished much closer to where it opened, showing that the selling pressure that carried $MCD down through the day did not translate cleanly into the final close. With RSI at 31.69 and relative volume at 2.00x, there was also considerably more activity around this pause than an ordinary quiet session.

What I find interesting is where the doji arrived. Since the early-August high, $MCD has fallen steadily enough to erase the entire rebound from the late-July low. The doji is sitting at the end of that move, rather than appearing after a meaningful bounce. That makes the next few closes more informative than the pattern by itself.

For the setup to become confirmed, $MCD needs a close above the doji's high. A close below its low invalidates it, with a stop placed a few ticks below that low.

How do you read a doji when it appears at a fresh 52-week low with heavy volume after a prolonged decline?

$DASH trading idea using candlestick patterns with context

$DASH printed an inverted hammer on 2026-09-15, closing at 198.26, after giving back much of the rally that carried it from the July low to a late-August high. The immediate read is straightforward: price has been under pressure, and one candle does not erase that. That is the obvious counter-argument, and it is why I would not treat the pattern by itself as a turn.

What makes me look twice is where it appeared. The decline has brought $DASH back into the golden pocket and near the MA50, after a recovery from the July low that had been one of the stronger moves on this chart. Price has also made several attempts to recover ground during the recent slide without yet regaining the August peak. The inverted hammer is the first place where that selling has met a more visible intraday push upward.

RSI sits at 38.85, so momentum is still weak rather than stretched to an extreme, while relative volume of 0.81x suggests the session did not come with unusually heavy participation. That keeps the pattern in perspective: the location is interesting, but the chart has not settled the argument yet.

For $DASH, the line is exact: a close above the inverted hammer’s high confirms it, while a close below its low invalidates it; a stop belongs a few ticks beneath that low.
