Small wheelbase or compact e-bike suggestions

Hey there! I live in nyc and want to get a light and compact e-bike - don’t really need it to fold, but something that isn’t tedious to get in the apartment - was thinking smaller wheels or frame, easier to navigate etc. doesn’t need to fold (if that makes it lighter), but agnostic on it.

Looking for pedal assist, 30ish mile range I think would accomplish my furthest rides of rockaway beach but more great too. But mostly used for commuting over the Manhattan bridge; and farting around town.

I e-citibike everywhere and kinda just want my own now.

Urtropia look kinda cool but seeing terrible reviews (so will stay away unless told otherwise), or the smaller vanmoof bikes I used to see

I’d like to stay under $3,000 and ideally closer to $1,500 but just beginning my discovery phase

[SOTC] from 3rd grade through 37: an odd 30 years of collecting

My 37th birthday is this week, and just got a Gshock for the gym and being stupid. Made me realize I have a weird little collection. Which began in the 3rd grade from a birthday gift.

From left to right:
- 2019 Tiffany 1837 Makers watch on alligator. Got this to replace a Cartier Tank because I saw Trevor Noah wear one to the met gala a couple years back and just found it more interesting (for me. still love tanks). I had plans to buy a lot more “nicer” watches but in the last 2 years it’s really my daily driver. The metal bracelet is fantastic as well.

- zodiac super seawolf: this was my first “nice watch” well before the crazy TJ Max and Marshall’s deals. It’s almost a meme now but I bought this to see if I’d wanna upgrade to a different diver down the road and I don’t. This color way just hits for me and I find myself wearing this anytime there is a beach or linen involved.

- the goat, the newest watch my G shock 5600RL. I really love this stupid thing. Wearing it to the gym and on occasions where a nice watch wouldn’t be a great idea

- 70’s orient - got this on eBay, and I just dig it. Really love a brownish dial - I think I’d now add the Rado Captain Cook 1962 37mm for this itch, very different but where my heads at.

- my very first watch a Dickies quartz. My grandpa was an illiterate hillbilly who came from sharecroppers. But he did alright for himself and every time we were at the outlet mall in Branson Missouri he would get himself a nice new Citizen watch, which was very high class for us folk. I wanted to be like him (except be able to read) and begged for a watch with a bund strap (like I saw him wear in pics from the 70’s). He got me this Dickies on a bund strap in the 3rd grade in 1996 for my birthday. That strap mildewed because I swam and bathed in it. It’s just on this thing so I don’t lose it. It’s very dear to me, but probably haven’t worn in 20 years.

Idk if I ever really need another watch because I really love beating to piss the Tiffany. But I’ve been thinking an 89’ reduced speedmaster with a white dial and some gold on the bezel, a Zenith El Primero, VC 222, or maybe just a Longines Conquest.

Anywho I got sentimental due to the dickies turning 30, and missing my grandpa.

Have a great week.

WTS: Alden Modified Last Indy & LWB

Hey there!

I love Alden Modified last - but my first love is a Chelsea and I finally found one that fits how I need it to, and realistically won’t ever wear my Modified Last shoes anymore.

I bought the Indy’s last winter, and lwb’s sometime this year. Both can only be had from Moulded shoes in nyc. Both

First pair:
- Indy’s 8D in LS Grain - normal scuffing but very good condition
- have them on eBay for $600 to see offers but here would do $550

Second pair:
- LWB with Alden Wedge Heel in Scotch grain. These are special because they have an Alden removable insert that has been discontinued. Even Moulded shoes won’t have these again.
- the wedge is awesome - but I know not everyone’s taste. If you are on your feet a lot or walking these are for you.
- the insert can be removed for custom orthotics
- on eBay for $550 (cuz noticeable toe scuff which I think can be hidden) but here would do $500

It really pains me to part with these, but someone should wear them and my heart is somewhere else now.

Crockett & Jones Chelsea 5 in Natural Roughout

Hi there, found my perfect shoe and thought I’d share.

In the last year I discovered the Alden Modified last and love it. Ended up withe some Indy’s and lwb’s. However there was always a hole in my heart where Chelsea’s used to live.

I have a bad knee and laceless shoes just make my life easier. I’ve had everything from Too Boot, Solovair, Viberg, Grant Stone, Tecovah, Blundstone (back 12 years ago when you could get them cheap), RM Williams, Tricker’s, Yanko, etc etc.

Well someone on frugal fashion posted Crockett & Jones having a sale. I actually snagged the Chukka 4’s but they were too small, so went to the store to try on a larger size and saw these. They were on sale from $830 to $560. (Ended up with the chukkas and the Chelsea’s)

First things first. I thought I was Alden Modified till death, and I will keep the Indy’s and the lwb, but Crockett & Jones offer extremely anatomical lasts with less arch than the modified. It really hugs your mid foot. It actually works better for me.

I love a GADA watch and a these are my GADA shoes.

They are instantly comfortable, I’ve only really worn them 3 or 4 times because summer - but one day was a 15k step day, and they were great besides the inside of my ankle/foot not used to the elastic stitching (haven’t worn a Chelsea since I started getting Alden’s).

From above I think they look like a cool cowboy boot, the rough out is rolling and scuffing beautifully and they’re great. The last pic is to highlight how much of a change from heel to forefoot there is.

When these need a resole I’ll get the C&J wedge placed on it (like the chukka 4’s), as it’s lighter and more comfortable than the Dianite, but looks like a classic shape and not workwear.

Anywho if any of you are looking at Chelsea’s check these out. Price is high but there are sales, and my friend just snagged a pair from Poshmark for $100 and they’re now his favorite too.

Dropped by Schön Custom Cues unannounced

Was in Milwaukee for work, and love billiards and particularly cues. Had some time to kill so took a Lyft out to Schön thinking it would be a shop or have a hall or something.

Nope! But the owner and son of the founder gave me a quick look around. I definitely surprised him and his crew.

It made me really want to buy one of them with the turquoise. He said for those lines he makes 24 and then moves on. None had wraps because they wait to see what the customer wants.

Really fun to stop by and nice of them to show around some rando
