Why does seeing an online doctor take so long? Am I crazy for trying to fix this?
Hey guys,
Honestly, why is every medical app so slow? Even with the big apps out there, you still have to browse through profiles, pick a calendar slot, pay upfront, and then sit in a virtual waiting room for an hour. All of that just for a 2-minute conversation to get a quick answer or a standard prescription refill.
It feels completely broken.
I’m working on a web app to try and change this. The idea is super simple: no booking calendars or waiting. You just log on and connect instantly.
We split it into two simple paths right from your browser:
- Text Chat: For quick health questions or fast refills.
- Video Call: To match and jump on a live call with a doctor right away.
To save time, we have a basic AI assistant that asks about your symptoms first. It organizes your answers into a clean note so the doctor knows exactly what's wrong the second they join the call. Once you're done, your digital prescription is ready to download.
My main worry: The biggest hurdle here is trust. People are used to the old, slow way because it feels safe.
If an app matches you with a doctor instantly (kind of like booking an Uber) instead of letting you pick one from a list, would you actually use it? Also, does answering questions for an AI assistant before seeing the doctor feel helpful, or does it feel too mechanical?
Would love some honest feedback on this before I spend more time building it out!
