AITAH for feeling like I’m the only one trying to hold our graduation project together?

I honestly feel like my graduation project has turned into a nightmare, and I don’t know if I’m overreacting or if my situation is actually this bad.

We are a group of 4 girls. When it came time to actually start the technical work, my group contacted external engineers to handle the implementation. At first, I agreed because they told me the engineers would “help us,” explain everything, and hold meetings with us so we understand the project instead of just submitting it blindly.

But that’s not what happened.

Every time I asked for meetings:
\- either the engineer would join and just say “easy”
\- or my group members would ignore scheduling and not respond properly.

Whenever I asked what exactly had been done, I either got no answer or was told “just tell the supervisor that” without any technical explanation.

The bigger issue is that every member was communicating with the engineers privately instead of in the group chat. So I was constantly left out and had no idea what was actually happening. I was literally the only one trying to understand and ask for details about the project.

Then came the report.

The engineers were supposed to help with it too, but they disappeared, so we divided the work between ourselves. I wrote my section based on the limited information I had. After I finished, I sent it to them and was told it was “100% correct.”

Later, I discovered that many parts were actually wrong because nobody had properly explained what was implemented. Every time I asked about a specific point, I would get responses like:
“Oh no, we didn’t actually do that.”

I got frustrated because we had literally paid these engineers to help with the project, and from the beginning I had been polite and cooperative with them. They were also originally supposed to help us with the report and explain the implementation so we could actually understand and defend the project.

Instead, communication stayed unclear the entire time, and whenever I asked technical questions I rarely got direct answers.

So I drafted a message basically saying:
“You were supposed to help with the report too, so at the very least please explain what you implemented so we can write about it correctly.”

One girl told me to wait, and later another replied “yes,” which I misunderstood as approval to send the message. I sent it in the main group chat with the engineers and the admin.

The admin responded saying:
“The engineers completed everything required. Anything extra must be paid for.”

After that, I was suddenly told that I was being rude and “ungrateful,” even though we had paid them and I had been respectful throughout the entire process.

One of the girls (let’s call her A) distanced herself and said it was “my attitude,” then privately contacted the engineers…and they sent her the file I had been asking for from the beginning.

That honestly upset me a lot.

Then there’s our supervisor.

From the beginning of the semester she kept saying we “did nothing,” even though we had already started UI and database work within the first few weeks. She constantly said things like:
\- “This can be done in a week.”
\- “This is copy-paste.”
\- “This is easy.”

She also kept adding new requirements that were never part of the original project plan and told us to “just add them.”

Whenever we said we didn’t know how to do something, she would just respond:
“No, you can. Easy.”

In meetings, she would question A about her section, but A often couldn’t explain it properly, contradicted herself, or said she didn’t understand. There was even an entire meeting where the supervisor was trying to figure out what A had actually done because the explanation kept changing.

Near submission, the girls wanted to skip one of the supervisor meetings and said:
“Maybe she’ll forget.”

I told them there was no way she would sign the report if we disappeared. Nobody listened, so I contacted the supervisor myself to ask whether we should attend or just submit the report. She said we had to attend.

Then suddenly:
\- one girl was “sick”
\- another had transportation problems

I had already taken a day off from my co-op training for the meeting, but it got delayed because they didn’t show up.

We later sent the supervisor our final report for review and signature before submission, but she ignored the message and never signed it. Since the deadline was approaching, we ended up submitting the report without her signature.

The next day, our supervisor said we had to submit the additional changes and features she requested or she would deduct marks. The problem was that both requested features required paid services or company-level accounts.

We had already implemented a free alternative for one feature. It was not perfect, but it still performed the required function. For the other feature, we discovered that access was currently restricted to company accounts unless you paid.

I messaged the supervisor explaining that the feature was currently unavailable for regular users and that we would try to find another alternative solution. Honestly, I mainly sent that message because I was worried that if we simply refused, she would become more critical of every small mistake during grading since she controls a large percentage of our final mark.

My group members immediately told me to delete the message. They argued that we were not obligated to pay for anything and that by saying “we will try,” I was committing us to extra work. They also said we should stop worrying about these changes and focus on preparing for the presentation instead.

When I asked them directly whether they were okay with potentially losing marks over it, they avoided giving a clear answer and just kept repeating that we didn’t have time.

At this point, I honestly feel exhausted because:
\- the code is messy
\- the report is weak
\- communication is terrible
\- everything happens privately
\- and I feel like I’m the only one constantly thinking about what will happen during evaluation.

I genuinely don’t know anymore if I’m difficult to deal with…or if this entire situation is just as dysfunctional as it feels.

AITAH?

I’ve been struggling with something for a few years now, especially since COVID. When I try to talk, my thoughts come out as scattered or disorganized sentences. People always say “just think first and then speak,” but the problem is I can’t even organize it in my head to begin with.

Sometimes I genuinely don’t know what to say in conversations, and when people talk to me, I get defensive or just want to end the conversation quickly. I also forget words a lot or lose track of what I was trying to say mid-sentence.

Most people—even my family—struggle to understand what I’m trying to say, or they get bored and start talking to someone else, which makes it even harder.

It’s really frustrating, and I feel like it’s affecting how I communicate with others. Has anyone experienced something similar or found ways to improve this?
