I made a short drum & bass remix of “Prelude to the Void” from Final Fantasy V.
I tried to keep the dark, mysterious feeling of the original while pushing it into a faster DnB groove. FFV has such a unique atmosphere, and this track felt like it could work well with heavier drums and a more modern energy.

A dark Drum & Bass / Super Jungle reinterpretation of
“Prelude to the Void” from Final Fantasy V.
The original track plays in the Interdimensional Rift — one of the most mysterious spaces in the game, filled with silence, wind, echoes, and a strange sense of distance.
This arrangement imagines those 1992 memories through heavy breaks, dark low-end, and fragmented ambient textures.
Instead of simply making it “epic,” I wanted to preserve the loneliness and emptiness hidden inside the original composition by Nobuo Uematsu.
Headphones recommended.
Been obsessed with 80’s fusion/AOR textures lately, so I tried arranging Pollyanna from MOTHER with vocoder and synth layers.
Felt surprisingly natural for this melody.
Picked the opening section of the mix so it feels like the beginning of a journey — starting with the darker atmosphere ofTower of Evil and moving into Long Journey from DQ2.
The full collection continues through DQ3 / DQ4 / DQ5 / DQ8 with chiptune, jazz fusion, prog, orchestral, and retro game-inspired arrangements.
