Twisted Metal 2 vinyl soundtrack

This is a bootleg record that was made a few years back, somehow they were able to get the original calypso voice actor to record lines for the outro

I was also lucky enough to get one of the test pressings from this, I’ll try to take photos and share later.

1st week of posting my tracks to overcome my fear of making stuff that sucks

Well, you’ve got to start somewhere!

This is the first video in the series, where, as you’ve probably figured ou, I’m trying to stop being afraid to compose and free myself from the perfectionism that keeps me going in circles (and driving me crazy). The idea is to just do it and learn as I go :)

I hope you’ll like it anyway, haha.

The track is called “Temple,” inspired by video game music, specifically, a level set in… a temple. Spot on!

What does it remind you of?

Enjoy !

Made a site for rating and reviewing scores. Looking for people to break it.

soundtrackscores.com

I'm Robert, one of the co-founders of Soundtrack Scores YouTube channel and podcast.

My friends and I have had a longtime soundtrack newsletter/channel (reactions, reviews, discussions), but the goal all along has been to create an app that lets us capture our ratings and reviews, and build a community of soundtrack lovers like us.

The webapp is here. It's early days but already well on its way. Completely free as it stands, and we'd love all of you to test it out, send feedback, and help us build out the database with more reviews and tags.

Once you've explored drop your feedback here.
One of our outstanding questions that we'd love your take on: should the reviews also indicate whether the reviewer has seen/played the subject vs listened out of context? If so, how do we best indicate that?

[Found] "Never Forgive Me, Never Forget Me" (Silent Hill 3 Soundtrack, Akira Yamaoka) Cover by AcidicVoid

Never Forgive Me, Never Forget Me is a piece of music, composed by Akira Yamaoka, from the Silent Hill 3 Soundtrack. It is one of the pieces that get used a lot in "creepy" YouTube videos or memes.

In 2010, user AcidicVoid (still active as a German niche streamer and game dev) created a fan-track based of the original. More a reinterpretation than a direct cover. It's a reduced, more ambient sounding version of the piece.

Unnecessary yet interesting information:

One of Void's projects from the time is K is for Kraken. He made a chiptune version of Satanshimmel voller Geigen by Samsas Traum that can be Found on the release .Käfer.Maden.Würmer.Spinnen..

According to him, most of his works from back in the day are now lost. He used to make actual C64 chiptunes (SID), hosted on 8bc.org (long defunct). There is a lot of lost media related to this guy.

One of his more popular works is his famous cover of the Morrorwind theme, from 2011.

The track:

Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3jdj9lgRAc

It was uploaded by fukounashoujo. I know that she also was active in this sub but her Reddit account seems to be banned. I find this very sad since she posted a lot of interesting lost-media-related stuff.

There was an ongoing search for this in a German Silent Hill forum hosted on diplompsychopath.de. The forum was closed a while ago.

Important: In the forum, he didn't use the name AcidicVoid, so I assume that the searchers don't know who made it. If I recall correctly, there was a discussion on who made it. Since the forum is gone, I cant check this.

https://web.archive.org/web/20111219032535/http://www.diplompsychopath.de/cgi-bin/yabb3/YaBB.pl

The forum always required an account and strictly blocked all bots and crawlers from the beginning, so. It changed name to "Dark Games Forum" for a while.

According to the forum, the track was lost after the YouTube channel that hosted it was deleted.

I hope someone from the forum finds this.

Thanks a lot for reading.

I composed this OST for a Game Jam

Hello!

I am new to this sub and I would like to share the soundtrack I composed for a Game Jam recently. 🎶🎮

There are various genres here: bossa nova, electro, funk, rock.

I didn't get many feedbacks so they're welcome. 😊

Thank you in advance!

What are some of your favourite repeated boss themes?

What I mean by 'repeated' is single boss themes that are used for multiple bosses in a game. Preferably I want about 10 examples.

I composed a haunted version of the 1998 Nagano Olympics for an indie game: 90s + Japan + spooky was the brief

I composed this track for the Japan expansion of Bang-On Balls: Chronicles, an indie 3D platformer where you play as a bouncy ball exploring destructible historical worlds.

The level takes place in a haunted version of the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics, and the brief was essentially:

90s + Japan + spooky.

I ended up combining 90s TR-909 drums and dance pianos with theremin-like synths, taiko, shamisen, koto, and shakuhachi. I was also pulling inspiration from things like Luigi’s Mansion and Madonna’s “Vogue.”

I really enjoy this part of game composition: taking a bunch of references that don't necessarily seem like they should work together and figuring out how to turn them into a musical identity that supports the world and gameplay.

This ended up being one of my favorite tracks from the Japan expansion, so I thought I'd share a little look at the thinking behind it.

I'd also be interested to hear from other game composers/developers: how do you approach translating a game's visual style or creative brief into music?

My Entry for the STAR LEAP Contest Will Be Uploaded In the Next Two Weeks!

My entry will be uploaded to YouTube where I will be talking about the series and the character that I made for the contest. I am making cover music for it and an original theme.

To make this, I found the resources on Mobygames and made it 3D and animated it using DaVinci Resolve.

Seeking pieces

Aspiring self-taught classic guitarist, strong left hand dexterity, poor right hand technique (left handed) ~1.5yr

Started with John Oeth (also shout out to lonlonjp and issac saleh) tabs for bunches of vidya game music, love memorizing those shorter pieces with solid harmonic development, Squaresoft composers, OG Metroid st, Koji Kondo. Always tried to include some Bach, assorted seasonal tunes (Christmas stuff, Diablo Tristram for Halloween), more recently a Guiliani and Carcassi etude each to intentionally work on ring finger and tremolo. I have run into and shitily imitated various other techniques and styles in the VG selections.

I'm to a point where I am enjoying reaching back to harder pieces previously visited from Uematsu, Sight of Spira ffx and ffix intro, working on musicality and tempo.

tl;dr

I like good vidya game music, seeking more classical touchstones. Hit me up with your favs
