Hello everyone!

So as an avid Mac Pro 2019 user (still, 28-Cores, 768GB DDR4, 8TB SSD, W6800X) I kind of skipped the 2013 Mac Pro.

I skipped straight from 5.1 to 7.1.

So I’ve never owned a Mac Pro 2013, which is why I really wanna get one just for the sake of it.

So a few questions from a trash-can-newbie :-)

- What’s upgradeable? Like eveything including the GPU?
- Which GPU should I go for? I’ve heard some stuff about overheating on the D700, wondering now if that’s really such a big issue.
- How much RAM should I get?
- What’s up with the SSD? Do all NVMes work? (I kinda need 2TB) or should I maybe get the OWC Aura SSD?
- Some other issues I should be worried about?
- Does it work with the Pro Display XDR, or the Studio Display? Or do I need to get the Thunderbolt Display as well?
- And finally: What can I do with this beautiful peace of teach? Planning to run macOS Monterey on it and to my work on it, or maybe downgrade to macOS Mojave and replace some old 32-Bit Mac games including GTA San Andreas :-D

Still looking through my local eBay offers, since I’m very picky about condition, so it’s gotta be mint 😁

I just bought two brand-new Pro Display XDRs, old stock from early 2026. They are still unactivated and sealed in box so I can also get AppleCare.

I bought them for around 8k in Germany. Does anyone have any long-term experience with the Pro Display XDR? I’ve heard some people complain about burn in or bad picture quality after a year of use, and just in general a lot of people complaining about the build quality.

Does anyone here have a Pro Display XDR? What are your experiences with it and how has it held up over the years?

Sehe mittlerweile schon ein paar Wochen lang auf Kleinanzeigen einen Audi A6 3.0 TDI (BJ 2009, 239PS) mit satten 508.000 Kilometern auf dem Tacho. Laut Vorbesitzer (kenne ich) hat das Auto den ersten Motor / Turbo / Getriebe / Steuerkette.

Laut Langzeitboardcomputer hat das Auto auf die letzten 100.000km einen Verbrauch von 6,9L, anscheinend ein Nachweis für dauerhafte Langstreckennutzung.

Der Vorbesitzer wollte anfangs 7.500 Euro dafür, nachdem sich aber keiner meldet hat er den Preis auf 4.900 Euro gesenkt.

Einfach der Interesse halber, wie realistisch ist ein Auto mit 500.000km? Auf was sollte man sich bei sowas einstellen? Wie lange läuft der noch so weiter?

Das ist bisher das erste Mal, dass ich selber ein Auto mit einem derart hohen KM-Stand selber gesehen habe haha

Kaufen will ich das Auto (eigentlich) nicht, mich würde es dennoch interessieren was ihr dazu sagt.

I'm really frustrated right now.. I wanna upgrade to macOS Golden Gate, but my 2019 Mac Pro does not support it. I also don't want a Mac Studio, as long as I am still able to use a Mac Pro with the newest macOS and PCIe support.

But where can I find one? It seems so hard to find now that Apple discontinued the Mac Pro..

Specifically, I am looking for the 192GB 76-Core option! SSD doesn't matter

So ever since I've had a Mac, I've been quite picky about the displays.

The only displays that fit beautifully with the Mac ecosystem are the LG Ultrafine 5k, the Studio Display and the Pro Display XDR. The Thunderbolt and Cinema Displays also work great, although being way older of course.

But for some reason, I just cannot seem to find any other options when shopping for displays for our employees? Every monitor either uses HDMI, which requires me to get adapter cables, has weird scaling issues (like a 27 inch display being detected as 40 inches for some reason), or has awful color accuracy when compared to the iMac display for example.

Also, the stupid menus some displays have are so annoying. Everytime you put the Mac to sleep, the display will show a blinking image saying "no input" like duh??

I'm currently running a triple Studio Display setup and I love it, but we need new displays in the office. What can y'all recommend? Are there any displays that are properly "integrated" and don't have shitty colors or weird menus?

An jeder Kasse werde ich mittlerweile gefragt nach irgendeiner dämlichen Mitgliedschaft. "Haben Sie eine Payback Karte?" "Haben Sie die Edeka App?" "Mit der Lidl App gibt es 10% Rabatt!"

Es nervt mittlerweile so sehr dieser ganze Mist. Nur damit man am Ende VIELLEICHT 2-3% spart. Darauf ****** ich aber ehrlich gesagt, wenn man den ganzen Aufwand mit einbezieht.

Hier muss man schauen welches Angebot wann gültig ist, da Coupons aussortieren, hier unnötig mehr Zeug kaufen weil es doppelt Punkte gibt usw usw.

Mir bleiben diese Leute ein absolutes Rätsel die diesen Wahnsinn mitmachen. Letztens bei Edeka an der Kasse war eine ältere Dame, welche sich vollkommen ernsthaft darüber beschwert hat, dass sie keine Punkte bekommen hat für eine FÜNF EURO BUTTER.

Da geht es um CENTBETRÄGE. So arm kann man doch gar nicht sein?!

Mir persönlich gehen Pfandflaschen schon tierisch auf den Sack (stelle diese immer draußen auf die Straße, morgens sind sie weg), aber dieser ganze Punktewahnsinn nimmt wirklich überhand. Bald geht es hier zu wie in Amerika, wo man 25 Kreditkarten für alle möglichen Anbieter und deren Prämienprogramme hat.

Kein Geld der Welt könnte mich zu diesem Wahnsinn treiben!

Currently looking to buy this 2005 Porsche Cayenne Turbo. Has around 220,000 miles on it, and the previous owner really babied that car. Also a lot of maintenance was done in the past few months which easily cost more than 5k, so it probably is a good deal. What do you guys think about the engine sound? Is it normal? Do y'all notice anything bad, like the notorious cylinder problem?

So right now I am sitting on a ton of hardware from my Mac Pro 7.1 builds, and I don't really know where I should sell it. eBay seems like an option, but they keep banning people when you sell high ticket items.

What I have right now in case someone is interested:

• Intel Xeon W-3275M (28-Core CPU) brand new, no QS. Pulled from a new rack Mac Pro
• 384GB DDR4 2933MHz RAM (6x64GB), brand new from Apple, also pulled from the same Mac
• 384GB DDR4 2933MHz RAM (6x64GB) from OWC (SKhynix), used pull from a Mac Pro which was used as a server, roughly 5 months of use probably
• Radeon Pro 580X (3x) nobody wants them lmao
• 192GB DDR4 2933MHz (12x16GB), original pulled from working Mac Pro
• Radeon Pro W5500X brand new in box, only tested once

Idk if selling is allowed, but hey I spent months trying to find stuff for my Mac Pros, so I decided to give y'all a head up so to speak :-)

Over a year ago, I reached out to the British lodge in Germany. At the time, I just turned 18, I always planned to become a Freemason once I became an adult. Unfortunately I was told that I needed to wait until I was closer to 21. Now that I'm 20, I decided to follow up as the secretary of Southern Star Lodge had suggested.

I honestly wasn't expecting much, but I was just invited to dinner! There is an introductory meeting this evening at a restaurant in Munich, and I am incredibly happy to be included. The invitation was addressed to "Dear all," so I assume it's a group event, but I'm really looking forward to it.

I definitely don't want to blow this opportunity. What are some tips for a first meeting? What should I do or say, and is there anything I should avoid?

And also, what is the general timeline of becoming a member, since the secretary also told me that it was going to be a lengthy process?

Well, that is it. macOS 27 dropped support for my beloved 2019 Mac Pro. What a shame, and honestly also a joke. Will create another post on my roadmap post-macOS Tahoe
