Alcohol and SSRIs

Occasionally I drink alcohol on Prozac, mostly I'm just fine as I only drink 1-2 drinks.. Just having fun and what not but when I over-do it like this weekend; it's living hell.

I had 5-6 stronger beers and while I had a lot of fun: The day after I felt so off, like medication wasn't there to aid me.

Racing heart, racing brain, stomach upset, anxiety.

Luckily I only over-do it let's say once a year, but even then I'm very rough on myself and blame it all on me.

Not really a discussion or rant, just a story of a person who takes his daily ssri and is só good on them but once a year I have a drink too much. Oops.

Clio 6 etech

Today I have my Clio 6 Etech around one month, 1300km driven and I must say that it's a dream to drive, very smooth, more than enough power, quick off the line, stable in corners and fuel efficiency is just mad.

The only remark is interior quality, I have the Techno trim which looks amazing to me but it's so easy to scratch the plastic interior or hear rattling noises when the music is even at half volume.

What are your positive sides and negative sides to the car? Do you agree with my statements?

What helped me tremendously

In my life long relationship with anxiety and light OCD tendencies I've learned one thing, and that is letting go.

Last two years I was so focussed on the SSRIs (first escitalopram, then fluoxetine which I'm now on).

They must and shall heal my mind and body so I feel perfectly normal again, many many times whenever I had an off day I felt so .. bad and hopeless and I thought the pills didn't work well enough, that I'm again one of them for who the pills don't work.

But after a good conversation a month ago with a friend of mine who is a doctor, it cleared up tremendously.

He really stated that these medications are no super power pills that eraticate all mental problems, they just lower the physical and mental effects from mental illnesses. And that gives you the opportunity to live a life with **less** anxiety and to work on yourself handling anxiety.

Once I really understood and made myself believe this, things started to clear up; off days were just off days, even 3-4 off days in a row exist now and then but it just happens.

I wanted to share this with you all because it was en eye opener for me, and it might be for some of you as well.

Also, I'm now half a year on Prozac and things are really clearing up as well. It all needs a lot of time, don't be too hard on yourselves when having a bad off day.

Wish you all the best.

This was really worth it

Took me several months to adjust to 20mg, first 2 were harsh and afterwards I bumped to 30mg because the feel good vibe was gone pretty rapidly.

Now 3 months in on 30mg and I feel amazing tbh, what a difference. Minimal anxiety, sleep is good, somatic OCD which I had is also nearly non existent.

I feel the full range of emotions and tbf the sexual side effects are getting less and less.

Please stick it out long enough as this drug takes a very long time to build up. Previously I was a year on Lexapro and this didn't help a thing for me.

Thank you to Brozac!

Waited 4 months for this beauty!

Ordered end February and received this wednesday, what a nice car to drive; drives so smooth, silent, it has lots of horsepower for a Clio and just feels really premium.

Dosage too high?

I've been on 20mg fluoxetine for 4 months, it was fine but suddenly it felt too less. 10 weeks I raised to 30mg, this was kind of a struggle in the first few weeks. After that I felt slightly better, now I'm 10 weeks in and I feel .. wired and have more anxiety than I was on 20mg.

Morning and evening feel rough, rumination and anxiety is very prominent.

Could this feeling still subside after 10 weeks? My doc says to wait another 2 weeks to be sure.

20mg to 30mg

Hi peeps, I went from 20mg to 30mg because the effects were not strong enough for majority of the days.

Now I'm 2 months in on 30mg, I have no anxiety or panic, neither do I have my dizziness but .. I have this jittery ruminating feeling.

Like my mind is very racey and tells me there is something but .. when I think rationally there is nothing.

I know, this sounds very weird.

Is this a known side effect which will go away after time?

Prozac/fluoxetine

Hi dear friends, whenever I have an off day I question the whole SSRI thing. Like I may feel 6/7 days OK and like today, I feel like crap, restless/brain fog/tired/slightly anxious. Whenever I encounter a day like this I feel so hopeless, maybe even sad.

I was 4 months on 20mg prozac, now 7,5 weeks on 30mg and I really felt the difference at first but now I don't.

Probably I'm not long enough on the medication to feel the full and steady effect.

I'm on for anxiety and slight OCD, I'm very functional at work though.

What do you guys think about this, medication too low? Wait it out? Or other things .. ?

Off days

Hi all, I wanted to vent here about off days and also ask how do you all struggle through them?

Currently I'm on 30mg and still adjusting slightly, week 7-8 now. I was feeling better and better and now suddenly .. I feel like I took 3 steps back.

I'm having brain fog, can't find my words, slight depersonalization, ugh.

I encountered the same thing on escitalopram, now on fluoxetine (which is waaaay better for me though) I had the same on 20mg and now again 30mg.

Is this common? Am I still too low in dosage?

Craving to smoke?

I was since December on 20mg, one month ago I raised to 30mg because the effects of 20mg wore off.

I stopped smoking 6 years ago, since I raised my dosage to 30mg I feel a big urge to smoke.

Is it because fluoxetine lowers my dopamine that my brain is craving for some rewardshot?

Anyone in the same boat?

Two weeks ago I raised from 20mg to 30mg fluoxetine.

I was horrified for side effects but I only had some dizzyness and furthermore nothing.

But .. now after 14 days I notice when I speak my upper teeth can hit my lower teeth which kinda hurts now and then. Now I speak funny by putting too much attention in this 😅

When I loosen up my jaw by opening my mouth I feel this thumping feeling in my jaws.

I know this will recide but still irritating side effects

That's it, that's all folks for today.
