Throwback to my Noldorin Elf OC cosplay from 2012-13 ✨🧝‍♀️🌿🎶 (feat. meeting Kate Madison from Born of Hope)

Dress based on Arwen’s Rose dress from a deleted FotR scene, in cobalt blue velvet and satin, comission from a local seamstress.

2nd pic - Kate Madison, the director and Elgarain actress from Born of Hope, came to the 2013 EstelCon (annual event of the Spanish Tolkien Society) as a guest (there was a screening and a talk, and she attended the festive dinner in her ranger costume)

Chase Arwen cosplay ✨🧝‍♀️🐎⚔️(2025 selfie roll and casual hotel pics at a Tolkien convention)

I couldn't take my metal Hadhafang replica to the con, so featuring my larp foam Elven sword instead. Also, I didn't have the time to do the three fishtail braids for the hairstyle (that will appear in a future shoot), so I went for a more simple half-up with a three-strand braid and two front mini braids.

Mineral haul from a Winter seasonal stand (2024-25) ✨💎

Some casual phone pics, the fluorites are stunning and these photos don't do them justice (the green aventurine tower is really sparkly too), so more pics will be coming in the near-ish future! ✨

Bonus rant on the misleading fear-mongering of shungite/tourmaline to "block harmful electromagnetic radiation" from phones/computers, because this physicist *can't* with that, such a pet peeve 😭

Another annotated mineral stand, a seasonal one I usually visit in the Winter season (2024-25) 😁✨😅

I've gotten some nice and reasonably priced (albeit mid quality) specimens, tumbles and tower from here, but many items feature resin, dyes, mislabelled stuff, synthetic materials, and ye olde pseudocience, of course.

Disclaimer! In my blog and mineral TikTok, I like to indicate most of the artificial treatments - heating, dyeing, etc - and the artificial/synthetic materials I can spot at stands and fairs, as these are not commonly labelled in the stands, when they definitely should...But as I always say, *liking and choosing to get an aura-coated quartz piece or heat-treated amethyst is just as valid as getting natural pieces*, this is not casting any judgment on that! But vendors should always be transparent about what they are selling, and they are so *not* most of the time.

My first faceted bead necklaces & bracelet using wire & crimping (December 2025) 💎✨

For my first two tries (the blue bracelet and the green crystal necklace) I used some thin and way too maleable wire that I had around, and the resulting shape is not good for the necklace especially xD, but they're still holding up pretty well xD. Then I got some more supplies, especially some Beadalon 0.38mm wire (19 strands), more crimps (silver-plated brass, not full silver, those would've had the best hold) and wire guards, and made three more necklaces, two of them as Yule gifts (blue apatite, red crystal, fluorite). These turned out way better, but a crimp from the fluorite one - the one I made for me, thankfully xD - broke on the bus at the end of the day when I first wore it, and I lost nearly half of the beads 😭. Definitely need more practice with the crimping (I do have several crimping tools, but it's still not my fave technique). Even so, right now the wire+crimp combo is a bit too risky for my taste, especially when it comes to mineral & gemstone beads that I really don't want to lose, so lately I've been favouring waxed cord and knot covers for my necklaces, instead of wire and crimps 😅👍
