Blessed to have a great doctor

I saw my doc today about possibly having PMDD and told him the signs and symptoms. This is a doctor who usually doesn’t prescribe antidepressants as he believes the person should look for ways to strengthen their coping mechanisms. Lo and behold, he took me very seriously this time and immediately prescribed an SSRI and told me I must see a psychologist. Bloodwork is also ordered. The first step is taken!

Just Realized I Have PMDD

I feel so sad about wanting to “just go away” once a month. I have kids and I often think about how sad they would be if they knew their mom was a deeply unhappy person often enough. I’ve been dealing with intense images of “going away” right before my period comes.

We Are All Stressed Out. What Is Your Fave Way to Relax?

I like taking a magnesium at night before bed. It’s a muscle relaxant and seems to help me calm down.

I was watching a clip of a show and one of the moms told another mom that your kids are in your life specifically to teach you something. What did you learn?

I learned to make time to process my emotions and to allow others to do the same. I learned to accept people for who they are and to not compare.

My preschooler is almost 4 and he struggles with getting dressed (ie looking at the writing and label for shirt and pants) and is still peeing his pants at night frequently. I’m trying to be patient but also worried there is some sort of learning disability. Can someone give me some insight?
