Minnows vs Sharks

I had always wondered if everyone in Fromville was reincarnated, but now I'm starting to wonder who is the minnows and who is the sharks?

Was Abby a shark and Boyd a minnow? It makes sense to me that Abby took them there because she remembered it and she knew if they died they left.

But then Boyd is well - Boyd. Or are they both sharks?

Animal lovers, how do you even deal with the animal abuse that goes on?

I just want to vent.

I just came in from trying to help an elderly, sick neighbours cat whose face smells like rotting flesh and I looked at my healthy elderly cat and felt so sad that people think leaving a cat in that state is ok. I called SPCA and was passed to wait line after waitline and left a message eventually.

I've also noticed as the Council steps up it's efforts to catch roaming dogs, that people who look after their dogs are starting to gain more confidence in taking their dogs for a walk. I was so happy to go for a walk today and see dogs being walked - their eyes were shining, they were so happy. It's so not like the roaming dog situation where they look hunted, aggressive and afraid and it was so good to see a happy dog in public for the first time in a year since I moved here.

I am feeling hopeful about the welfare of animals improving in NZ, but I hate that it's clear they're not faring well because of neglectful owners. We shouldn't live in a world where owners want a dog/cat but are too lazy to take care of its needs and call that love.

If you have an animal, make sure you do something to enrich its life, instead of expecting it to revolve around enriching yours.

Is it normal to ask someone in an interview if their ethnicity and beliefs have been an issue in past workplaces?

I'm interviewing after 7 years, so I'm not sure what the deal is nowadays in other organisations.

I was asked if my ethnicity was an issue in the workplace because they were all white there, and I said that sometimes people mistake me for an equity lead, but they're not rude about it. I also explained religious beliefs weren't always known and only disclosed if the conversation went towards that. They also asked if I disliked any present staff I knew and didn't want to work with, and prompted me about five times to say negative things about them. I said I go to work to get work done, and don't let it get to that level of hatred of people. Overall, I got the impression that they spent too much of their time not working and poking around into other people's business.

I guess is it normal to be asked questions about how you handle not being white in a workplace in NZ? They had already prefaced that I wasn't the normal candidate they would hire.

UPDATE: I just checked the interviewer's linked in and he's specifically written in his profile that he's skilled in recruitment of people who aren't traditionally made for the role. FML.

How do we support Auckland Council Dog management as they step up their response to dog roaming?

I've noticed that there's shorter response times to callouts for roaming dogs, and many dogs are being taken off the street per day. I recognise most of the ones picked up from my neighbourhood because they're regulars and aggressive.

However, there's been an increase in false accusations about the Council. There was a news item about a homeless lady who refused to pay her dog registration out of principle, and refused money from others to pay for it and her dog was put down. Everyone has blamed the Council; however they can't let someone else register a dog under their owners name without the owner's permission.

Then there was Jacket Dog who was on the street for a year, they apparently found the owner but never did anything about it. And kept on insisting he was a sweet dog, when the Council said he was incredibly aggressive after fending for himself for so long.

I'm really happy the Councils are getting these dogs off the street. While I know some can't afford the pound fees, I know the same people can't afford vet fees and it's likely those dogs would get sick, spread disease and end up pregnant which is resulting in the abandoned puppies that are turning up regularly.

I don't hate dogs, I don't think it's a good life for them to be owned by people who can't afford their care. How do you think we can support the Councils publicly for the extra work they're doing?

Has there been a mass wave of breakups recently?

So I'm a single female, 42, average looking. I am on Bumble which I check a few times a month and I usually have around 50 people who have swiped me.

Today Bumble said I could pay $2.99 to see who swiped me, and I thought why not. I discovered there were 550 men who had liked my profile in the last month.

What happened Auckland? Why is there 10x more single men this month prepared to go all out on a middle-aged average female?

NB: least 2/3 of these are foreign men. At least 1 in 50 is compatible with what I put in my profile, so it's still a bit of a timewaster.

Coming out of long covid after 3 years.

Firstly, the only thing that I feel actually helped me in the end was rest over time. NMN supplements from California Gold definitely gave me the boost I needed to get through each day after I discovered them 9 months in. Taking beetroot supplements helped with POTS too.

Right now, because of long covid I have multiple other issues like muscle tension, vitamin deficiencies, and brain fog and most of it is from neglect - from not having the energy to eat well and exercise well. And I also hit perimenopause which also has brain fog.

After taking vitamins, getting dry needling in my shoulders and jaw so I can breathe in more deeply, I'm realising that a lot of my symptoms towards the end aren't long COVID like they were at the beginning.

I hope this helps. I had said to my gym instructor that the problem was after 3 years of inactivity, it was other health issues and he let me join a low-impact pilates class. I can go some weeks, but it helped scrape me out of the bottom of the barrel.

Seriously, this has been one of the hardest things I have had to go through in my life, if not the hardest. Please take care of yourselves.

How do you know when it's time to leave a job?

I’m currently working at a company that went through restructuring shortly after I joined, and the process has continued for nearly four years. The new management they've hired have joined after this has happened, and are understandably extremely critical of our performance through it, although we've survived multiple strikes, lost thousands of workers, and had all our budgets cut. I have also lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Court against the organisation, requesting an apology for their behaviour, and expect to win it.

However, I get to work from home (which saves petrol), and it's a good salary. The industry takes time to learn and adjust to and I've finally got comfortable. They're paying for me to see a psychologist, and get massage therapy for stress. When do you know it's too much and you need to stop?

Cat owners - what do you think your cat thinks you do throughout the day?

My cat is currently licking its butt while I'm trying to educate her how privileged she is because she doesn't have to pay taxes. She doesn't care, she doesn't have time for human things. I wonder what she thinks I do all day?

What do you think your cat thinks about your life?

What do you think they pulled out of the lake? Give me your theory.

Some people are saying its the scarecrow, but I reckon its>!dead bodies. It's just too big to be a scarecrow. I wonder if it's the last villagers who tried to escape through the lake of tears and they tied them there almost like a tether.!<

Who else is a King Ezekiel lover?

I'm at the beginning of Season 8, and I love King Ezekiel. There's charisma in the character, and his desire to please Carol that makes him the most loveable character. And the actor is perfectly cast

What I also love is how the camera keeps cutting to Carols bemused face, and how they still were able to put in that there's at least one logical person there but the logic is still going along with the passion because its effective and the passionate people rather than the smart people get to be in charge.. For me as a logically driven person, this is the most "true to home" sentiment.

When I first purchased these buds, they were emitting feedback so I returned them and asked for a replacement.

After a while, the left earbud started emitting sharper tones and then not working so I sent it in for repair. On it's second use, the pitch of sound became sharp and I screamed in pain when I put a teaspoon on the bench and it emitted feedback. It then began to emit super loud feedback that was painful to hear with me carrying it in my hands. I've requested a replacement, but has anyone else had this issue?

Is it a buds issue, or a this type issue? After the first time, I had to visit an audiologist because my left ear started developing an infection and became blocked up.
