Dealing with bad ADHD and face picking/ constant stimulation craving

Not caused by excessive smartphone usage or chronic binging of any food or activity. I’m actually an applied math undergrad and have been dealing with this issue for several years. Being constantly under stimulated and distracted. I know my trouble is focus not intel. It’s getting worse, however. I’m now constantly picking my beard or grinding my teeth, trying to fulfill any craving for dopamine. Even when I exercise, eat bland, read boring things, I just cannot meet my stimulation needs. I was Rxd Vyvanse and it actually helps but it feels like a patch. I tried some methylated vitamins which helped give me more methyl donors to promote dopamine levels. That also somewhat helped but still a patch. I tried sativa THC for the first time a few weeks ago and I was incredibly wired and it felt like pure ❄️. Maybe this is a GABA/Glutamate thing? I took some L theanine for the first time with Vyvanse and it was really helpful! Less stimmy and more focused. But maybe that hints at gaba and glutamate signaling. Not to mention I had an absolutely uncontrollable addiction to nicotine and quit a few years ago, so now I just supplement CDP choline and b9 and those cravings are poof gone. But man, THC just like activated something that I’d never felt, not in the psychoactive novelty seeking way, but in the sense of smooth and undistracted thinking. The dopamine boost from THC is so little in comparison to Vyvanse, so I thought that the THC was engaging some other mechanism that completely took away my chronic stimulation needs for a few hours.
I know it’s largely dopamine related in some way or another because a huge Vyvanse dose puts my brain to complete zen mode no hyperactivity no tooth grinding or face picking. But how is it that THC produced basically equivalent results when the dopamine boosting affect of THC is so minor compared to amphetamine.
I’ve supported by Choline pathways with CDP choline which helped take the load off of my Slow COMT, treated my (minor) b9 and b12 deficiency (basically had burning and tingling hands and feet constantly and was always exhausted), and I get in the right amount of cardio, electrolytes, hydration, whatever you can possibly do. What am I missing? Why did 1 thc puff feel like it fixed my chronically under stimulated brain and made me super productive, when Vyvanse can barely do so at a substantial dose. Am I missing something or is something just wrong with my brain?

Added daily CDP choline + infrequent Huperzine A. Woah

Uh so I’m a mathematics major in college and I’ve tried all stims and non stims, it appears cdp choline + Huperzine A did something interesting and raised the intensity of my focus, processing speed, and verbal fluidity when stacked with my Vyvanse 30mg. It’s pretty insane but of course im not gonna say it’s even a viable long term idea since I just took my first dose today. Has anyone else had any LONG TERM success on cholinergics? Looking for any advice. Also my brain is just really weird and it’s a finicky balance sometimes. Some days of the week I’m Superman, others basically as useful as a potato. This disorder is such a roller coaster.

It was the Prozac!

I’ve been taking Prozac 20mg for almost a year now and realized that I was literally dropping IQ points and my thinking became noticeably slow and sluggish. Switched to taking it at night instead and for the first time in a while my focus and creativity have the same snap they used to (almost) I literally thought I was just aging… this drug really does make you slower, but it was the only thing that took away my chronic anxiety. I’m using Vyvanse + guanfacine to combat the mental blunting.

Going about undergrad learning/ research with LLMs or not

I dont think I have to preface this with any opinion about AI because its results speak for themselves. Basically I’m still getting the handle of proofs strategies for analysis problems or graph theory problems. The only issue is that I don’t know how to effectively gauge to which degree LLMs are taking away my growth in the learning process itself. I’m not naturally the fastest when it comes to intuiting which steps to take in a proof, but there’s just so much explosive research breaking through that I feel like skipping a lot of the organic process to jump into using LLMs. How much of the learning process in math should be strictly pen and paper, and what can I do to optimize productivity and training in my own performance and depth of insight. What I’m trying by to say is, is it worth it to struggle through problems for the sake of personal growth? How can I balance LLM use so I don’t feel like a complete imposter?

How to determine your right dose

I’ve been on 30mg Vyvanse for about 2 months now. But the results are so inconsistent. Sometimes it’s strong and works well, other times it’s full blown brain fog and depression. I split the dose to 20mg + 10mg afternoon which helps a little. It’s just so weird because it feels like the first month of pills were stellar and now there’s some good some bad in my new refills. Am I the only one experiencing this?
Does it mean my dose is too low/ too high? I have Camber as my mftr.

Overcoming the fear of unintended astral projection

At focus 10-12 I noticed that my physical body began to go numb and I felt an intense vibration behind my eyes, but suddenly I got really really freaked out by the thought of floating up and seeing my own body. I can’t get past this fear. How can I reassure myself that the experience is not dangerous and you can enter into your body again safely

Asking for reassurance

I’m about to start applying for internships and I have battled insecurity and imposter syndrome for such a long time now. I would appreciate any reassurance, thanks everyone.

Effective dose turned out to be way lower than expected??

I had to ask my psych to drop from 30mg to 10mg. Has anyone else felt that their effective dose turned out to be way lower than what they were taking before? On 30mg I get really amped for the first 30 minutes when it starts to work but then get such a rush that I actually get knocked out and have to nap for a few hours. 10mg keeps me at the steady laser focus without my eyelids getting heavy and sleepy

I went through years of therapy and meds, achieved all of my goals, did countless months of internal work, and I still want to die everyday.

24, married, graduating college soon, lined up for a good future, I’m on medication. I used to struggle with alcoholism and other addictions starting at 17. Almost dropped out but managed to push through. Never felt good enough and got to the point where I showed myself how capable I really am. I felt like I made it finally after years of nightmarish family-struggles and addiction and worthlessness. But I am now more suicidal then I’ve ever been before. I achieved what I thought would make me finally whole, but it’s still there. I’m still in so much pain everyday. I did the therapy, the countless stacks of journaling, the meds, the legitimate self - improvement. I’m still suffering tremendously and it seems nothing can fix it. Not my works, not my faith in God, not my self talk, not achieving my goals, not choosing to finish what I started despite wanting to procrastinate. I’m always in pain and only temporary relief like scrolling or laying in bed truly provide some comfort. That’s kinda why the depression is so much worse this time: nothing that was promised to me would help my depression did anything. I wish I was dead every day and I wish I didn’t want that.
This is the worst feeling I’ve ever had I am so sad. I wish it wasn’t like this I wish there was a way out I feel like I’ve been abandoned by my own body and God, Im so sad about this it’s so crushing. I’m in so much pain I’m sorry for not offering any hope I’m just laying here crying I am suffering so bad I can’t do this anymore.

Dehydration recovery timeline?

Taking 30mg was working great but ever since the weather got hotter I had a bout of severe sweating for like 3 days including night sweats and one day my meds just stopped working, I had mild body aching, chronic migraine, excessive sleepiness. So of course I thought it was dehydration and started on electrolytes and water throughout the day, its the end of the day now and I feel a bit better but now I’m just wondering how long dehydration recovery usually lasts once you start experiencing physical and cognitive symptoms like fatigue and brain fog.

Potential manufacturer switch delays for next refill?

I’m planning on switching from my current manufacturer to Alvogen since ive heard there’s a chance it may work better, and I’m not certain about the science behind that but I am willing to give it a shot. My only concern is if that will cause significant delays switching from the default (it’s Kaiser HMO so I’m worried ordering it could take days to a week or something.

Advice on regular eating

I already frequently skip meals mostly because I forget but now that I have Vyvanse I both don’t remember to eat and never feel like I have to. It’s so hard to keep myself on a scheduled 3 meal a day thing. I always lose weight taking stimulants and it takes a toll on my brain and body for sure. Is there any advice for meal prepping or smoothies or something. Also I am just repulsed by food when I’m at peak Vyvanse strength which is right at lunch. What do I dooooooo.

Hot take, Vyvanse is a scam

Anyone think the half life being 10-12 means pretty much nothing when it comes to taking Vyvanse instead of just pure dex or adderall. I mean the sheer volume of people claiming that it lasts an average of 3-4 hours is an obvious sign of medication failure as a product. And most success comes from either maxing out the dose or completely switching entirely. I’ve been on Vyvanse for almost half a year and it is now providing 0 symptom control.
As a generic especially, Vyvanse just feels like a massive scam.
