According to this article, DeBeers have partnered up with JioHotstar (owned by Jio Star/Ambanis) to feature a little campaign of their own, talking about the "jewels" of every match throughout the cricket matches that will be featured on JioHotstar and Star Sports.
While they had done it during last year's IPL as well, back then, neither Abhishek nor SKY were signed on as DeBeers brand ambassadors so that campaign didn't really get much steam.
So they course corrected and got these two on board for more visibility.
Basically THIS, coupled with the relentless promotion Star Sports have been doing for Abhishek ever since the start of the T20 WC itself, gives me a clearer picture of what's about to come- MI saw the opportunity and pounced on it AS THEY SHOULD! 😝
Even the TOI article had mentioned MI as one of the teams he had "unofficial talks" with. And please don't come up to me with the whole His-father-wore-SRH-jersey bs- I'll just LOL at you.

So many issues with the ODI lineup- including but not limited to a weak middle order. Weaker lower order. GG's precious boy Sundar making it to every ODI squad without any rhyme or reason. Choosing Prasidh over Siraj. Axar's form. KL being a godawful wicketkeeper. Ishan being an equally bad backup option esp in overseas conditions etc etc.
But who cares about any of these? Let's fixate on that one 40 year old opener because that's more important. Selectors mein dum hai toh drop him for good! And end this will-he-won't-he bs once and for all!

I had kept quiet mostly when people here accused Rohit of using pr to elicit sympathy when Saikia shut down rumours about Rohit's retirement.
I think what most people failed to see was that all of this was very clearly an orchestrated campaign to put the spotlight on an ageing star...again...to escape scrutiny and questions of how the team was being run, added with extremely questionable selections!
Pandey put his entire credibility at risk to report Rohit's retirement news moments after he got out in the 2nd match. Why would he do that? THINK. He has been spot on with all the selection "leaks" even after Rohit's retirement from 2 formats but somehow he got such a major news so horribly wrong??
Yeah, I don't think so. He must've gotten clear orders from his reputable source at BCCI to make this news.
Very conveniently distracting everyone from the real problems in the ODI setup like the middle order, Ishan Kishan's inclusion, the bowling lineup etc.

He made a sum total of 51 runs against England back in 2025...about 8 runs more than Adil Rashid. Made 46 runs against NZ in the series preceding the T20 WC. I don't remember a single youngster/potential top order batter coming for him via their pr this way.
