I'm just getting started in ham and don't have any equipment yet. Should I be looking for something like a UHF/VHF handheld? Reputable brands? Any must-have accessories that you would recommend?
Three mini-projects I've been working on over the past few weeks to unfuck the kitchen: The counter/cabinet where I keep the coffee grinder and the toaster; the ledge behind the main work counter; and the infamous Junk Drawer.
I used three subdivided makeup trays to make elevated bins for teabags and other small items, and placed them high enough to make room for a storage jar or two.
As part of the process, I also reorganized under the sink (no before/after pics available) and tossed most of my cleaning rag collection. That gave me some extra storage space for things that wouldn't fit nicely in the junk drawer.
Found this beautiful little guy at the zoo on Friday. (It's a false water cobra, Hydrodynastes gigas). Part of an exhibit called "Monsters of the Abyss," but my first reaction was "Aww...."
