Electronics/Appliance Repair

I'm looking for an old-school appliance or television repairperson. I turned on my tv yesterday and the screen lit up a little bit but there's no picture. There is sound. My wife and I have done all the usual troubleshooting steps:

*Unplug>Wait>Plug back in

*Unplug>Hold down power button>Plug back in

*Reset the tv

Nothing has worked. We are measuring the cost/benefit of getting a new tv vs. trying to fix this one. The actual mechanics of taking this apart, fixing, and putting it back together is beyond our skillset. I know this is kind of a rare fixit job, but does anyone have any repair services that might be able to help us not junk the set? Thanks!

Positive Jetblue Experience

I will probably get downvoted for this, but just to balance out all of the negative experiences on here (which I experienced earlier this summer when I was stranded in Chicago for 2 days without any customer service help or restitution for my significant expenses): My wife and I went on a weeklong trip from NYC (JFK) to San Diego, and flew back from LAX>JFK a week later. I was nervous for each flight because of my experience earlier this summer, but everything went as planned.

Without going into too much detail, the only minor inconvenience was that each flight was delayed by 20 minutes. Yet, each still landed on time, there were no problems aboard, and no issues with customer service because we didn't have to engage anyone on either end.

Unfortunately, this made me realize that a "positive experience" with Jetblue this summer means "nothing went wrong." But once we were in the air, Jetblue was still among the best airlines to fly. I might quibble that the headphone jacks are a little loose and in need of maintenance, but that's truly a minor complaint.

Not to be contrarian, but it doesn't ALWAYS go wrong with JB. If my flight was messed up, I would be right here posting and complaining along with everyone else. But they nailed it this time.

If you're going to Madison...

I host a Phish-based podcast, and recorded a series where I found a guest in each city the band is playing this summer to answer all the FAQ about the venue, and to review Phish's history in that city. If you've never been to Madison, the Kohl Center, or just want to take a trip down memory lane and get excited for the next two nights, click here!

Also available on YouTube! There's an episode for each venue this summer. Have a great summer tour everyone!

EF Educational Tours

My school (middle school) is planning a trip to Iceland for next school year (2026-27) with EF Educational tours. My principal is organizing it and is hosting an "informational meeting" this coming week for parents and staff. I'm planning to attend because, hey, free trip to Iceland, right?

I have a feeling that the meeting is going to be the EF Tours people giving a smooth sales pitch. I'm skeptical. When I look up the company on Reddit and other sites, it gets mixed reviews. I'm looking for people who have been teacher chaperones for trips with EF Tours--the good, the bad, the in-between. Anything I should look out for or ask at the informational meeting. Any info or advice would be great. Thank you!
