People who rejected a full-time offer after your internship, do you regret it?

A friend of mine recently shared something that got me thinking.

She interned at a company she enjoyed. She made a lot of friends, learned a ton, and even received a full-time offer at the end of the internship. I thought accepting it would be a no-brainer.

Instead, she turned it down for a more well-known company. The pay was better, and she thought it would look stronger on her resume.

A few months later, she ended up leaving that company and admitted she sometimes wishes she had stayed with her internship company instead. She said the transition was much tougher than she expected. As a full-time hire, she was expected to hit the ground running, the support wasn't the same as when she was an intern, and she never really felt like she fit in.

By the time she realized she'd made the wrong decision, the return offer was gone and the position had already been filled by someone else.

It made me curious how often this actually happens and what people usually end up doing.

For those who rejected a full-time offer after your internship, do you regret it?

Or did that decision end up working out better for you?
