Is there still cardboard shoved into the credit card chip readers?

I left Carmax a couple years ago, but I thought it was absurd that a multi-billion dollar corporation had the chip readers disabled. Customers would look at me with confusion while trying to use a debit for their down payment. Even food trucks have better point of sale payment technology. It was that little detail that made me realize how incompetent upper management is.

While I have enjoyed shopping at Albertsons, I’m so sick of having to open up that app and scan stuff to save money. Many times the QR codes don’t work. I’m going to stick with stores that don’t require me to jump through hoops to shop and not overpay. At Walmart, everyone pays the same. No app or scanning required.
