EBT/WA/SSI

I have two children with level three autism. When I spoke to The SSI agent during my interview, she stated that if my kids receive EBT benefits, then they could get a higher amount of SSI approved. I am a sponsored resident, husband and two children are US citizens. I have been here for more than 10 years, but I do not have 40 working credits. I did try to apply just for both of them, but I was told that they would need my sponsors information even though I am not asking for benefits myself nor is my husband the agent stated that they could also potentially have my sponsor payback benefits if needed, and they would have to report him to the USCIS department so I decided to withdraw the application. I did let the SSI agent know and she seemed just as confused as we did. Should I try to reapply again or are there other benefits that they could receive?. the Social Security agent stated that it could take about 6 to 8 months to get an approval for SSI benefits.

How do you navigate life as a parent with autistic kids.

Not sure if anyone has felt this way or maybe has a friend or family member in the same situation but it gets real lonely at times. I have two kids that have level 3 autism & nonverbal. I had to quit my FT job since it was becoming difficult to balance work, school, therapy and doc appointment's for both of them. I tend to feel like i am not doing enough as a mom and overthink the unknowns of the future. Anyways sorry for the small venting session. Any advice on activities to do during summer break, What you guys do for income, Self care tips or even what you do to stay grounded, please let me know. Thanks!

SSI for two level 3 nonverbal kids 5&7.

I recently had to quit my FT job back in Feb due to my kids school schedules, speech and OT Appointments. I heard of SSI from some of the teachers at my kids school and have recently applied. I just had both their interviews completed on Monday. They stated they have all medical records and IEP information from the schools already. I honestly have no idea what we are getting into. My husband and I have always worked FT jobs but the older they have gotten the more difficult it has been for us both to work FT. We do not put them in daycare due to how expensive it is and also b/c if it’s anything like the school they will end up calling us to pick them up early. We are struggling financially. Savings is completely gone. We do not qualify for EBT for the kids due to me not being a citizen and only a sponsored resident of the US. Any suggestions on how long the process takes and if anyone has been in a similar situation please let me know. She also said I might have to appeal if we do not get approved, what would that look like? Thanks in advance.
