Too many Shipping emails and notifications!

“Your buyer is waiting!!!” Hey Depop why the F are you sending all these reminders on Sundays and Federal Holidays!? I cannot ship until Monday and I don’t appreciate all these messages and notifications popping up constantly! Can you please stop treating your 1099 work-force like employees, by making these impossible demands? We’re already on call 24/7 with constant low ball offers the people refuse to pay when we accept “THEIR” offer, on already ridiculous prices due to the free shipping. Do these people’s word mean nothing? I accept 3-5 offers a day that never get paid. Honestly, why do you allow people to send such low offers on $10 items with free shipping too, I get getting them to engage, but why not make them binding offers or cap the offers at like 5% or 10%, or make the choices smaller percentages, when the item is already a steal under $20???

The math shows Batch 1 won't finish until October

Clicks just said 20% of Batch 1 has now shipped as of July 1st, and they announced they hit 10% on June 18th. That’s 13 days to move the needle by 10% for what they called the “mid-June production ramp-up”. If they keep that exact pace, getting the remaining 80% out the door takes us all the way to mid-October.
To actually hit their estimate of having 100% of batch 1 shipped by the end of July, they have to increase their current production rate by almost 4x.
My hope is that the ramp-up we were supposed to get in mid-June didn't happen as expected because they actually listened to early complaints and took the time to tweak the slider tolerances. If they slowed down to fix the hardware, I get it.
But hopefully that full 4x ramp-up is happening right now. Otherwise, there’s no way they hit the July target to have 100% of batch 1 shipped and they will need to move the goalposts yet again. Realistically, I'm starting to accept I probably won't see my late-Jan batch 1 preorder until August or September. The joke that many have said that this will be a Christmas present is looking more realistic.
Looking back, it's pretty clear those first 5,000 units were rushed out the door before they were truly ready, just to stop the wave of canceled preorders and appear to meet the Spring shipping deadline. Based on how this is going I wouldn't want to be a day-one backer of the Communicator—hopefully, Clicks has learned some things from the power keyboard rollout and they don’t repeat those same mistakes.

Seeing the early reviews and tracking data completely changed my mind on the delays

Just looking at the actual hardware complaints from people who already have their devices, I’m completely shifting my perspective on these delays.
I’m a batch 1 order from later in January, so keeping reality in mind, I know I’m still looking at a lot of wait time ahead of me. I've been just as frustrated as anyone else about the communication and the missed windows. But seeing the specific complaints about the slider function completely flipped my stance.
People are calling out a noticeable wobble right out of the box. As well as, on full-sized phones like the Pro Max models, the weight is literally causing the slider mechanism to collapse and slip down if you tilt the phone at an angle. The slider is the entire gimmick of this MagSafe device. If it can’t handle the weight of the larger, heavier phones, that's a massive issue.
On top of that, another user u/phantompoint pointed out that the tracking numbers going out right now to Canada and Australia all seem to be from orders before the January 2nd cutoff. If that's the case, it means they are still just clearing the tail-end of that initial 5,000-unit milestone, and the post-cutoff units haven’t even started moving yet.
Pure speculation on my part—and I obviously don't know what's actually happening on the factory floor—but if they are still lingering on those early orders, it makes you wonder if they are intentionally slowing things down to look into these slider issues. Honestly, I hope they are.
That’s why I’m personally okay with the extra wait now. Pressuring them to rush out tracking numbers feels kind of counterproductive. If everyone keeps screaming for updates, they might just panic and dump flawed units out the door to clear the backlog in order to shorten the already overdue wait times and appease people.
I want these mechanical issues fixed way more than I want my device right this second. A delayed shipment sucks, but spending this much on a MagSafe accessory that slips under the weight of a larger phone is a joke. Let’s give them the breathing room to get the hardware right.

TL;DR: Early reviews show the slider wobbles and even collapses. I'd way rather wait for them to fix the hardware than pressure them into shipping a flawed device.

This is why I can’t get out of bed!

Every morning we let Livy out of her cage and she climbs into bed with us and goes back to sleep. 😴 💤 and then I’m stuck! Help!! She’s too cute and cuddly, this should be illegal !!

Believing in the Product vs. Believing the Marketing: A Batch 1 Reality Check

TL;DR: I am keeping my preorder because the hardware looks incredible, but the Spring shipping milestone is pure marketing spin. Clicks missed their April factory window, air-freighted a tiny 5,000-unit run this month to save face, and is using that to mask a massive delay. The remaining 95% of Batch 1 will likely ship via slow boat due to hazmat costs, which is inevitably going to make Batch 2 slightly late as well. A far cry from the spring promise.

I want to start by making one thing crystal clear: I genuinely believe in this product. As a mobile enthusiast, the vision for this hardware is fantastic, and I fully intend to keep my preorder. The creators have designed something the market desperately needs, and I want Clicks to succeed.

However, over the last few months, I’ve had to completely separate my enthusiasm for the physical device from my trust in the marketing team’s timelines. After finding out (after I pre-ordered) how they handled the RAZR case debacle, it became clear they like to play a pretty cocky game with their backers. They seem to operate under the assumption that we don't understand, or can't easily find out, how global fulfillment and manufacturing actually work. It feels disrespectful to be fed vague timelines and then hit with a "well, technically" defense after what any reasonable person would assume they meant goes completely out the window, especially when the community can see the actual reality through the shared shipping updates.

Here is the descriptive reality of overseas manufacturing that the marketing team is trying to gloss over. Production is not a continuous, rolling conveyor belt. These shared factories operate on strict, pre-booked windows. Originally, Clicks likely had a clear roadmap: a large April window for Batch 1, a mid-June window for Batch 2, and a July transition into continuous, scaled production.

What actually happened is that Clicks fell behind and completely missed that critical April window for Batch 1. To scramble and avoid a total PR nightmare, they managed to secure a small, isolated production run last month in May to pump out just 5,000 units.
Those 5,000 units only covered a mere matter of hours on launch day, January 2nd. Yet, the marketing team is using this tiny emergency batch right now to project a false narrative to the remaining 95% of Batch 1 backers that everything is moving smoothly and orders are actively shipping. It’s a deceptive move designed to stave off mass cancellations before the official end of Spring on June 20th.

The real kicker is what happens next week when the factory finally spins up the main production lines for the mid-June window. Because that window is now entirely clogged trying to manufacture the overwhelming majority of Batch 1, the timeline collapses. They paid premium air freight surcharges on that small May batch purely to buy themselves a PR shield and get unboxing videos dropping. However, air-freighting tens of thousands of units with built-in lithium-ion batteries is a hazmat and financial nightmare that would absolutely destroy their profit margins. Because of that, the bulk of Batch 1 is almost certainly going to be put on a slow ocean boat.

The ripple effect of this is that the entire ramp-up into full production shifts. Because Batch 1 is eating up the schedule right now, Batch 2 is inevitably going to be slightly late, pushed back by the bottleneck that the marketing team refuses to acknowledge. A far cry from the spring promise.
Despite all of the logistical smoke and mirrors, I am not going anywhere. The engineering and design behind this device still look incredibly solid, and I have high hopes that it is going to be a highly durable, game-changing accessory. The hardware team clearly put their hearts into building a great product. I just look forward to the day the keyboard is finally in our hands so we can stop dealing with the marketing spin and just enjoy the device.

The May Power Keys update is wild, “Spring is here” trying to imply “we’re on schedule!”(Reads on…) “We made a handful of units and we’re gonna ship them on a slow boat from China.”

Most Batch 1 buyers in the U.S. are looking at August delivery if we’re lucky, with zero confidence in their timeline projections. Does anyone know when this will be available in stores? I wonder if it will be before I get my pre-order like Clicks did with the Motorola RAZR keyboard case. Not a single buyer in China or even Hong Kong has gotten their unit, they have not even gotten a tracking email. Total shit show. Fan boys, come at me.

Batch 1 Power Keys obviously isn’t going to make the Spring deadline.

Yeah another post about it. We have the right to complain, get over it.

They said "Spring" when we pre-ordered in January. With working prototypes all over the internet, any sensible person thought that meant a March delivery. Instead, this has turned into a bad Kickstarter launch.
We have less than a month left in Spring and batch 1 promises are officially broken. The FCC and CA certifications slated for March are just sitting in limbo, and we haven’t heard a single word about why they're held up. Honestly, batch 1 probably has 30k orders minimum—that 5,000 number they threw out feels like a total distraction just to keep people from losing it. I seriously don’t see this thing shipping in the next 30 days like promised.
And the wildest part? Some of you are more mad at us for being annoyed than at the company for blowing past their own dates? Wow. 🤯
