How could I, as a homeowner, deal (remove) with this chinese elm?

According to the city official who has come around to give permits for me to cut similar dead trees, this is a chinese elm.

He stated these were often planted in the past to try and create some type of hedge but obviously that plan didn't work out to well and now we have tall whip-like trees on the property line.

I would like to remove it because there's a nice wild black cherry tree growing just to the side of it but I need a permit and the inspector won't allow it because it's healthy and local arborists or tree contractors won't cut it without city approval.

I hav already cut a dead one not as tall as this using long ropes, slings and a come-along to control the branches's path as I cut them with an extended saw but this one is much taller and standing above a small shed.

Any suggestions?

75 year old Black woman visiting India..any issues we should be concerned about?

A British friend has encouraged us, my wife and I (White male), both Canadians, to travel to India. He figures we would not have any problems with anti-Black attitudes but I've read a number of reports of Blacks having rather bad experiences in that country.

It could be they were treated badly as anyone else would be by specific individuals but I'd like to make sure she won't be given a hard time for being a dark-skinned non Indian woman...

I know in parts of India the population has very dark skin but what if we travel where everyone has a fairer complexion?

Miele W1 washing machine-WWB020 WCS....The Pre wash option has disappeared on the screen for all programs.

Googling and found using the Heavy soiled option will do a prewash...

Is that a fact? It replaces the regular pre-wash option?

Is one of the things that define Canadians is that we don't go around acting like we're better than other nationalities?

I've been asked by a couple of fellows, from oddly enough the same country (Eritrea) at different times what is our culture..?

Good question...I said well, we don't have a national dress/clothing, or national dish (that's before I knew about poutine), dance, or deep rooted traditions, except, we don't really believe we're better than anyone else, hence ,unlike say some folks in Europe who seem at one time or another to be always at war. we won't say our ways are better than yours, so we're not going to go to war with you on those issues, generally, which makes us a fairly decent place to live and of course to invest, which brings in prosperity and a decent standard of living for the middle class, which is probably why you are here (the fellow asking he question...).

The "we don't believe we're better than you" part was also said to a a Taiwanese fellow who had worked in Europe and been treated, according to him, in ways that let him know he wasn't an equal. He was happy in Canada and felt accepted.

I've noticed that many individuals from across other nations who visit or stay here tend to make negative comments about our country. Silly nonsense stuff, comparing what they do or have to what they find in Canada.

I have a hard time imagining Canadians behaving this way/ It would be more of "That's interesting, that's different..."

Of course this is a lot of generalizing, because, we have our bigots, racists, and there will always be some behaviours, traditions and beliefs within some newly settled immigrants that we abhor and will not accept, such as FGM...for example.

Also, we do know we live in one of the best, if not the best country in the world, but we don't feel we need to tell everyone...

Stellantis drivers avoiding Gordie Howe International Bridge, unions say

Do not use the Gordie Howe International Bridge — or face disciplinary action.

That’s the message UAW Local 212 Chair J.T. Barrett, who represents FCA Transport drivers in the United States, sent members in a July 30 Facebook post, saying the company is bound by a commercial toll agreement with the Ambassador Bridge that requires drivers to continue using the older crossing.

The post on the UAW Local 212 — FCAT Membership Information page said FCA Transport is “currently under a contract with the Ambassador Bridge.”

“Under that contract, we pay a flat rate of US$160,000 per month, regardless of how many crossings are made,” the union wrote in the Facebook post. “Before the contract, we were paying north of US$400,000 per month on a per-crossing basis.”

Based on those figures, the flat-rate agreement reduces monthly crossing costs by roughly 60 per cent, representing potential annual savings of about US$2.9 million.

“If we wanted to begin using the Gordie Howe Bridge, the Ambassador Bridge would first have to be notified that we intend to terminate the current contract,” the union said.

According to the union, the agreement requires 60 days’ notice before it can be terminated.

“This is a message to my membership, who can get disciplined if using the bridge in our company semi trucks. Not to mention getting pulled into customs for incorrect paperwork,” the union chair’s post said. “This is not about politics.”

Automotive News Canada captured screenshots of the Facebook post before it was removed.

Is there a Nunavut communal board where a service/business can be advertised?

Just wondering where one could advertise services as a personal guide (for South East Asia..)?

Are there towns in Canada that are similar to Flint Michigan?

An American I met was from Flint, Michigan. He asked me if there towns similar to it in Canada, meaning, I guess, towns that are dying, or something similar.

I haven't travelled across all of Canada so I could not say for sure but still replied that generally, I didn't believe there were towns that were in such dire situations as Flint (If you seen Micheal Moore's movie).

What do you think?
