What should I know before starting boxing for non-competitive purposes?

I know pretty much nothing about boxing.

My main reason for joining is self-defence. I want to take it seriously and learn how to throw a punch, move quickly on my feet, and reach a point where I could hold my own against an amateur boxer.

Am I supposed to look for anything specific when choosing a boxing gym?

I’m in the UK, if that helps.

I’m very new to all this and definitely not tech-savvy, but I’m looking at switching to GrapheneOS and would appreciate some advice on the best setup.

At the moment I’m thinking of having two phones.

One would be for things that need real personal data, like banking, credit cards, etc. Ideally this would be an iPhone that still gets security updates but doesn’t support iOS 26 because of the new UK age verification stuff. The main reason for using an iPhone for this side of things is because GrapheneOS doesn’t seem to be ideal for banking apps, NFC payments, and similar features.

The second phone would be a GrapheneOS device for everything else that doesn’t need personal information tied to it.

I’d probably only have one physical SIM as well, which would stay in the GrapheneOS phone, then hotspot the iPhone when needed.

Does anyone else run a setup like this? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.

I only recently found out about Dutch law enforcement seizing a server used by Windscribe’s VPN service, and I’m wondering whether the Netherlands is still a safe location to connect to, since it’s the default location for free users.

Also, what would happen if any of Proton’s servers were seized in the same way?
