cheatengine-x86 64-SSE4-AVX2.exe error even in fresh system

Hi all, I wasn't using Cheat Engine for a while (last used with Baldur's Gate 3 on 26th June 2025), I installed the 7.7 for the first time on my new gaming PC and I have this error.
I tried to install the "old" 7.5 version that I was using in my previous PC, same error.
So I tried to open it on the previous PC because I used it before and was working, now I have the same error.
Tried to install on a fresh new Windows, same error.
Tried to disable Windows Memory Integrity, error persist.

WTF is happening here?

For a moment I thought it was because I'm using the IoT LTSC version of Windows, but the previous PC had the classic Window 11 Pro ad it was working.

It's not the antivirus nor any anti-cheat and for the 7.5 I even used the installation I used when it was working (I had it saved since then).

That exe doesn't even exist in the program folder, what the hell happened in the last year?

Does a +3 crossbow used as improvised weapon retain its bonus?

I couldn't find anything specific on this, only discussion about shields (that is already stated in the rules) or real improvised weapons like a chair.

If I have a +3 crossbow and I use it as improvised weapon to strike in melee (aside from having the -4 to hit or the "Catch off guard" feat to avoid it), does it retain the +3 bonus so I have +3 to hit and damage?

Just the raw use without anything else to help (like the Improvised Weapon Mastery feat or the Gloves of Improvised Might).

Maybe the answer lies in the Pistol Whip deed of the Gunslinger, where it's stated that he gains the enhancement bonus for hit and damage.

Thank you.

Is there a USB-C PD cable that "force" the 12v?

I'll explain my question.
I bought a "stick PC" (this one) that use 12v supply.

I already have another one (Asus VivoStick) and I want to use a multi usb charger to power both with a single wall socket.

The other one has a 9v so it's easy to power it up (a little struggle because it has micro usb and I needed to find a charger with USB-A that support multiple voltage, no luck with USB-C to USB-A adapters, they pass only 5v).

But this one has USB-C and with my surprise there's no charger that can power it up, even if they support 5v/9v/12v/15v/20v. I have plenty of different chargers, old and new ones, noone provide the 12v.

Searching online, the 12v current isn't automatically provided, the device should "ask" the charger to provide it, and it seems that the stick pc isn't "asking".

So, now the question: is there a USB-C PD cable that "force" the 12v?
I already tried to find a USB-C to 12v "jack" and adding a 12v "jack" adapter to USB-C, but the adapters I found are one-way only and in the wrong direction (USB-C to 12v "jack").

Thank you for the help.

Windows Storage Spaces strange behavior (low capacity warning)?

Hi all,

I have a couple of PC with a bunch of disks organized with Windows Storage Spaces to have redundancy on my data.

Some of them are having a strange behavior that I can't tell if it could be a problem or not.

Reading HERE it could be a "safe to ignore warning" but I'm concerned because some are ok and other not.

Here's the configuration:
- 2x 2TB in two-way mirror
- 3x 10TB in parity (1 disk parity)
- 2x 12TB in two-way mirror
- 5x 1TB in parity (1 disk parity)

https://preview.redd.it/wkst0mztglah1.png?width=563&format=png&auto=webp&s=aace70c012d368af01b554750c43bfb1a3992005

(ignore the 5x1TB warning, one disk is gone or just in error and needs to be removed and reinserted)

First question: why the two-way mirror configurations don't have the full pool capacity used, while the parity ones use all the capacity.

Second question: why the two-way mirror have that warning while the parity don't (for example the 5x1TB have only 440GB free, less percentage than the other two-way mirrors, and that doesn't trigger the warning)?

My concern is that something was configured wrong and I don't have a real data parity/mirroring. Most of those disk content is really important to me.
Yes I have other backups (a TrueNAS main backup and other single disks to relocate, I'm updating them in these days) but I don't want to risk to lose any data on them.

Why I can't find any 3.5" HDD to usb-c ONLY adapters (no power supply)?

Honestly I can't find the reason of that missing simple adapter.

Yes, usb-c can't provide BOTH 5v and 12v of a 3.5" HDD, but it can provide 5v and it can go up to 100W so it could provide 15-30W in total for a 3.5" HDD.
Then the adapter should just split the current in 5v and 12v.

I don't think this is so difficult. So one can use a 3,5" HDD with just ONE usb-c like a classic 2.5" external HDD or SSD.

Or maybe I'm just doing the wrong search for it? I can't find anything.

I can find a 12v to usb-c adapter, but it'll use 2 usb in total (one for the 12v and one for the data/5v), so it's not so different from the classic usb+12v power supply of a classic 3.5" HDD box.

Am I dreaming and asking for a thing that will never exist?

Cannot attach a third drive in the boot pool

Hi all, I'm using TrueNAS 25.04.2.6 Community Edition, I just replaced a boot disk in the pool because it went to the other world.

Now I was thinking about adding a third disk to create a 3way mirror, but I don't see any Attach option, only Replace.

Those disks are all 500GB HDD, are visible on the system but I can't add it.

There are command lines to do it?

It would be convenient for me, because the PC used is in a "intricate situation" and I need to move many other things (other PCs, external multi HDD bays, external power adapters, tons of cables) to be able to take the TrueNAS PC away to check it.
So with a 3way mirror if a disk fails I could replace it whenever I want without doing it asap.

Thank you.

Looking for a game like Aska/Medieval Dynasty but with less stupid and demanding NPCs, like Nightingale

Hi all, as per title says, I was searching for a game like Aska/Medieval Dynasty but with less stupid and demanding NPCs.

A game where after building a base and having NPCs, you can go around doing missions and other things without bothering of stupid NPC worse than The Sims characters, that can eat, sleep, work and defend the base themselves.

I prefer a modern or futuristic setting, but not disliking a medieval one.

Also I'd prefer to avoid 1990 2D graphics, we're in 2026...

I played Nightingale, i liked it a lot and it's the perfect example of what I'm searching.

Thank you all in advance for all suggestions you'll reply.

I suddenly have this problem: when opening the map the gpu go from 26% to 100% usage and I do almost 0 fps, like almost freezing the game.

I thought it was one of the mods I use, but I tried to remove ALL of that (emptying the Mods folder) and the problem is still there.

The game runs smoothly with maximum details (and the map hadn't this problem some days ago).

Do anyone have this same problem? What it could be?

Thank you.

Hi all, I'm searching for old laptops with 2x 2.5" disk slot and/or optical drive (32GB maximum RAM optional).

Why old? Because I want and need the old 2.5" slot that disappeared from any laptop and the optical drive so I can remove it and put and adapter for another 2.5" disk.

My purpose is to use it mainly as a NAS and backup system, with an emergency UPS (even if worn out, the PC will hibernate).

I'm already using an old Dell Latitude E5540, it has an mSATA slot (system OS disk) + one 2.5" slot with a 2TB disk + optical drive that was replaced and has now a 2nd 2.5" 2TB disk (both disks in "raid 1" with Windows Storage Spaces) and 16GB of ram (maximum supported).

The problem is that it's old, even with a lightweight Windows 10 version (yes I Need and I want Windows) when copying files and doing other operations the i5 mounted can't keep up.

I need some old workstation or similar, best are dedicated laptop servers like the old Getac x500 with the RAID disk station and Eurocom Panther, but they are really rare and they cost too much even if old and used.

I was thinking always to Dell, there are many old models around and there are many with 2 disk slots or more (like the Precision 7000 series, now it has 4 RAM slots and 4 disk slots but all SSDs).

Thank you in advance.

P.S.: I'm searching for a laptop and this Is a laptop thread. Desktop proposal will be ignored (I already have 2 running).
