Buying a new set - Original Trunk S ?

I have an old Salsa air that I picked up cheaply at Schipol a long time ago. I never really liked it since it felt wobbly with the T-style handle.

I am looking into a new set since I travel a lot, and have my sights on the classic cabin + 1 check in.

The Original trunk S or the original check in M is something that should suffice since I don't like to over pack, and if I'm gone for more than 2 weeks I either find a laundry or do the good old sink wash.

Is the Trunk S suitable for this or would you recommend the regular check in?

VSF v3 Pepsi, Take 2 - Andrew Trusty Time

I had to RL the previuos watch from Andrew, and within 48 hours he had another one ready for QC.

The previous watch had a clearly misaligned CCW 12 marker, date was to low in the window, the cyclops was rotated CCW and 6+9 markers was rotated CCW.

  • Dealer name: Andrew, Trusty Time
  • Factory name: VSF
  • Model name (& version number): Rolex GMT II 126710BLRO Pepsi VSF V3
  • Price Paid: 640 USD incl shipping. Crypto
  • Album Links: n/a
  • Index alignment: Compared to the previous watch very good. I cant tell if there is a degree or so off CCW at 9 o clock, or if it is because of the angle of the photo.
  • Dial Printing: Crisp
  • Date Wheel alignment/printing: Much more centered, I cant complain about it this time
  • Hand Alignment: can't tell from the photos
  • Bezel: Looks good
  • Solid End Links (SELs):no obvious gaps
  • Timegrapher numbers:+4 s/d, 280*, 0,2ms, 52degrees
  • Anything else you notice: Nothing obvious.

Overall a massive improvement and I am very happy for the advice to RL the previous one.

I am GL this one unless anyone notice something I haven't.

Your first solo

I see on Instagram and on forums people sharing their first solo experience. The flight schools make a big deal of it and showers their students in water, giving drinks et.c. People say that it is something that you will never forget and so on.

My experience was that it was not a big deal. I did my PPL at a small aeroclub, and went solo at 13 hours. We had spent the last 2-3 lessons only doing pattern work, including power off landings , go arounds and so on, and in the middle of a lesson my instructor asked if I wanted to do it alone and asked me to taxi to stand to drop him off.

After that, off I went and did a few touch and go`s by myself and that was it. It did not feel "special" besides the aircraft felt extremly light and agile( i flew a 172sp with 180hp).

I got a handshake and a congrats afterwards and that was it.

How was your experience, and was it especially memorable?

Expired medical Class 1

My class 1 expired this January, and since I am working on the other side of the globe (not flying related) this year I have no possibility to visit an AME before December.

I have read part-MED and as I understand it, if less than two years have passed since expiry, you can do a normal renewal, if more than 2 years have passed you need some further reviews, and finally if >5 years have passed you need a full inital exam.

Is this correctly assumed by me?

I have been looking to get a ring, and the only style I truly like is the type of wide gold rings graduates from schools like USNA, Texas A&M etc.

What are those ring designs called? Is it possible to have one but without specific school names/insignias.

Thanks
