am i really an estp or a mistyped istp?

okay ive been pretty confident in me being an estp for a while, but i recently just got back into mbti and took a quick look at the functions and now i can’t figure out whether i’m actually an estp or istp. my ti usage has always been very high but i never even considered being ti dominant because i used to be pretty extroverted when i was younger, and i never really looked THAT much into ti, because i know once i start looking into functions i second guess myself and end up in a rabbit hole trying to analyze myself and everything (ironic, isn’t it). so i just stuck with estp. but then i posted a quick description of myself in the mbti type me subreddit and everyone thought i was an istp, which i think made me question it even more😭

for reference, here’s a bit about myself:

-im very blunt to most people, obviously i can read a room and tell what’s the right/wrong to say and can tone myself down accordingly but most of the time i tell it how it is and exactly how i feel about certain stuff
-i like the idea of planning things out but most of the time i just feel things out and go from there. i usually just go with the flow once i start from somewhere
-i have a tendency to jump on things out of impulse, however once i get myself in a situation, im able to go over any worst case scenarios and go from there
-speaking of, im usually confident in most things as long as i understand the basics, even when starting something new, so i have no problem jumping right in
-i usually love talking to people and meeting new people but i have a low social battery so going out feels like a chore most of the time, especially at night. also when talking to people i end up jumping from topic to topic a lot.
-im super nerdy, i have a bunch of nerdy interests and tend to get hyperfixated on them. (my entire life revolves around coding atm😭 with school + work)
-im pretty closed off as well, i only have 2-3 people in my life rn i can actually open up to but with everyone else, being vulnerable is sooo difficult.
-along with that, i just have a tough exterior and like being independent, i like to do things on my own and feel more comfortable doing things alone.
-however im comfortable around most people and don’t feel the need to fake a personality. i like learning about other people too and can usually put myself into their shoes
-if im curious about something, i tend to research and look into it for HOURS. like if i have a symptom or i started a new medication etc etc, i will try and diagnose myself/other people. or if im trying to figure something out i will spend way too long looking into something that doesnt even matter
-growing up ive always got told that im too loud or talk too much. ive gotten better with it but to this day if im talking about something i’m excited/passionate about, i talk loud without realizing
-im super easygoing for the most part tho, i can get along with anyone and everyone. im also never serious until i need to be.

im confident in the functions i use, just the order im so lost on. do i seem more estp or istp?

guess my type!

i saw people doing this so i got curious what people would think i am LOL

feel free to ask anything as well

i’m a big go with the flow person, i just kinda do my own thing most of the time. i do have goals for myself in the future but i’m not super future oriented.

i’m usually the friend/gf that’s telling everyone around me to “stop worrying about what hasn’t happened yet”. i’m also just a very realistic person in general; optimistic, bc why would i purposely make things feel shittier than they already are, but still realistic.
that also makes me blunt towards (mostly) everyone in my life. i can be pretty empathetic and supportive but i’m much better at giving advice rather than giving support. i’m good at handling emotions in a sense i can read a room but not good enough where i know how to comfort someone crying (especially if im not close to them). i also never take anything seriously (until it’s necessary)

speaking of being realistic, i’m great at handling my emotions. a little too good to the point i struggle opening up and getting close to anyone. not in a scared way, just in a “people don’t need to know my bullshit” way. if i’m feeling down then i usually push it off and get myself together, then deal with why i feel that way later. i end up playing therapist with myself.

if there’s something i don’t fully understand or i’m interested in, i will spend HOURS researching it and making sure i have a complete understanding of it, even if it’s something stupid like “why do i have a headache”. i need to find reasoning in everything around me. if it’s something like a game or building something that i get the general gist of, ill just jump right into that. i analyze everyone and everything just out of habit, and if i can’t figure someone out then i get frustrated.

i loveeeee talking and meeting new people but i get pretty drained quickly. i get told i talk too much (and that im loud) (a lot) (especially when talking about something i’m passionate about). as i got older, i became more introverted and prefer my alone time, but im still just as talkative.

i’m a huge nerd and code for a living. i’m a computer science student who works in software development and i love what i do.

e3 vs e8?

okay i figured this would be the best place to ask because i can never figure out which enneagram i am. i’ve been going back and forth between e3 and e8 for as long as i’ve been studying enneagrams, they both fit me almost equally but i can’t figure out which one i truly lean towards. with e3, i always watch my image and care for how others view me, but i don’t necessarily care to the extent most e3’s do. my core “fear” is being looked down on. i hate being seen as weak or stupid, or being belittled. i don’t feel the need to prove my strength or prove that “im better”, i’m not an overachiever and i’m comfortable with that. i can’t figure out if i’m just a healthy e3 or an e8 that cares about how certain people see me.

if u guys need any other info lmk 🫡
