After the protest held in Tetovo against the return of the old street names, DUI reacted through a post on social networks, stressing that Albanians have long given the answer to the figure of Josip Broz Tito. The party appreciates that the efforts to restore the symbols of the past are destined to fail and that Tetovo moves forward with its identity, dignity and history, and not with, as they say, “the shadows of the past.”

The Council of the European Union has appointed German diplomat Dirk Schübel as the European Union Special Representative for Kosovo. Schübel will succeed Estonian diplomat Aivo Orav, who left Kosovo in April. According to the EU announcement, he will take office on September 1, 2026, with an initial two-year term.

Dirk Schübel is a German diplomat with extensive experience in a number of leadership positions at the European External Action Service (EEAS), at the European Commission, and the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Currently, he heads the Division for Russia at the EEAS.
