More color concepts for the Konkr Pocket Advance

Ayaneo introduced the Pocket Advance in a translucent, colorless shell, and I’m glad they decided to make a translucent version. However, like many others, I’d also love to see them offer more color options in the future.

So I used AI to generate (and manually tweak) some color variants that I personally would be happy to see.

Maybe Ayaneo will come across this post, as well as others like it, and if they weren’t already planning to make these color options, perhaps they’ll take some inspiration from them.

p.s. And yes, I also like the non-transparent colors. I’ve already ordered the orange one, but if any of these become available, I’ll definitely order another one 😄

Another shot of what I think is a very underrated handheld — the RP Mini V2

I made a post a while back about how surprised I was by how good GBA games can look on it under the right conditions.

But I should also mention that home consoles like the NES/SNES/PC Engine, as well as handhelds like the GB(c)/GG/NGP(c) look absolutely fantastic on the RP Mini V2's display - if not perfect, then about as close as you can get.

Just look at how great SNES games look. I normally play with CRT shaders enabled, but I turned them off for these photo. Here I'm using integer scaling with a slight crop around the edges. Since the RP Mini V2's screen is very close to an 8:7 aspect ratio, the image ends up with the correct proportions: squares are actually square, and circles look like circles instead of ovals.

AYN Thor in the Forest Light

Lately I've really been enjoying photographing handheld consoles outdoors, so I borrowed an AYN Thor and took it into the forest for a small photo session.

The photos aren't my most dramatic work, but I really like how the Thor looks outside of its usual indoor setting. The lanyard also blends surprisingly well with the natural surroundings, which gave the whole set a nice, organic feel.

Hope you enjoy the photos!

I didn't expect this, but the RP Mini v2 Is fantastic for GBA emulation!

I originally bought the RP Mini V2 for PS2, GameCube, and older systems. It's also an excellent device for NES, SNES, GB/GBC, Neo Geo Pocket, Game Gear, and TurboGrafx-16, thanks to its display's aspect ratio being very close to 8:7 and 10:9.

At first, though, I wasn't a fan of GBA on it. The image felt a bit too small, and I found it less comfortable than I expected.

To fix that, I created my own overlay based on the shape of the RP Mini V2's screen protector, but styled to resemble a Game Boy Advance. I then set up 3x integer scaling and tweaked a few shaders.

The end result is surprisingly pleasant: a clean, sharp image with a subtle original GBA feel. Thanks to the OLED display, the overlay blends in extremely well - the screen border is only noticeable in bright sunlight. Under normal conditions, the display edges virtually disappear, making the screen feel much larger for GBA.

Now GBA has become one of my favorite systems to play on the RP Mini V2.
