Is focusing my entire Common App essay on one part of my life a bad idea?

I'm working on my Common App personal essay and wanted some outside opinions before I keep editing it.

My essay is about being a male Bharatanatyam dancer in America. My mom came to the U.S. from India and always dreamed of having a daughter she could pass Bharatanatyam down to, but she ended up having two sons. When I was four, I was actually the one who approached her and asked her to teach me.

The essay follows how I went from basically copying movements I didn't understand to learning the meanings behind them, including learning Sanskrit, which I barely even knew existed when I was younger.

A big part of the essay is also my Arangetram. I was preparing to have it at 14, but we had to postpone it because of my mom's injuries/health issues. Between that and trying to balance school, it kept getting pushed back and still hasn't happened. The essay uses that to talk about how I used to see the delay as falling behind, but eventually realized that progress doesn't always happen according to the timeline you planned.

The opening is basically:

>“My mother spent years dreaming of having a daughter. Instead, she got me.”

Someone close to me who is currently in college read the essay and told me that I shouldn't focus on only Bharatanatyam. They said I should talk about three different parts of my life, like Bharatanatyam, DJing, and leading my math team to second place in competitions.

The problem is that those other things are already in my Activities section, and honestly, Bharatanatyam is much more personal to me and has shaped me significantly more than something like a math competition.

For people familiar with Common App essays, is focusing deeply on this one story better, or would admissions officers actually prefer seeing multiple activities/parts of my life in the personal statement?

I'm intentionally not posting the full essay because I don't want it publicly searchable, but I'd really appreciate feedback on the concept/approach.

My power went out and now my 100% in physics dropped to a 19.99% because my lab is overdue. What do I do?

I’m honestly really anxious right now and could use some advice/reassurance.

I have an online physics lab that was due yesterday. My power went out before I could finish it, and I had no way of getting back online or submitting the lab before the deadline.

Now the lab is showing as overdue, and my grade went from a 100% to 19.99% because of it. Seeing that number absolutely scared me 😭

I already emailed my professor explaining what happened, so I’ve done what I can for now. I’m just sitting here stressing because I’ve been doing really well in the class and I’m terrified that this one missed lab is going to completely wreck my grade.

Has anyone had something similar happen with an online class? Did your professor work with you when you had a legitimate power/internet outage?

I know there’s probably nothing else I can do tonight, but I’m just really anxious and could use some reassurance that this isn’t necessarily the end of the world.

**Edit: TO BE CLEAR, THIS IS MY PHYSICS LAB CLASS, WHICH IS AN EXTENSION OF MY PHYSICS 1111 CLASS**

Sean might genuinely be a better driver than Dom, and Tokyo Drift accidentally proves it

I just watched Tokyo Drift for probably the 300th time since I first saw it as a kid, and I can't stop thinking about that final race.

I'm oteven saying Sean should've won. I'm saying there's a legitimate argument that Sean is a better driver than Dom, especially when it comes to what Tokyo Drift actually establishes.

Sean spends the entire movie learning and mastering drifting. He gets destroyed by DK, learns from Han, adapts, and eventually beats the guy who basically runs the entire Tokyo drift scene.

Then Dom shows up at the end and beats him in a race.

But here's the thing: we didn't even know Dom and Sean were connected when this movie came out. Dom wasn't some established mentor or rival in Sean's story. He was basically just Vin Diesel showing up at the end.

And looking at their actual driving abilities, Sean has an argument. Dom is obviously an insane driver, but Sean's entire skill set is built around drifting. That's literally his specialty.

So why does Dom automatically win?

It almost feels like the writers were terrified of damaging Dom's invincibility. They had spent the entire franchise building him up as this untouchable driver, so even in a movie that wasn't originally centered around him, they couldn't let him lose.

Which is hilarious because Sean had just spent an entire movie proving himself in the exact discipline they were racing in.

Sean wasn't necessarily supposed to lose because Dom was the better driver. He lost because Dom was Dom.

And honestly, that's probably the most ridiculous piece of plot armor in the entire franchise.

Where do DJs find good Bollywood club edits/remixes?

I’m trying to find Bollywood remixes that sound more like desi club edits/open-format party remixes instead of EDM or Afro House stuff.

I’m talking about:

Bouncy club beats

Jersey/bounce style drums

Hip-hop influenced Bollywood edits

Punjabi + Bollywood party remixes

Wedding/open-format DJ edits

Early 2000s UK desi remix vibe

Basically the type of remixes you’d hear at Indian weddings, college parties, desi nights, lounges, etc.

Where do DJs usually find tracks like these?

SoundCloud?

DJ pools?

Patreon pages?

Telegram/Discord groups?

Specific remixers?

Also looking for producer recommendations similar to:

DJ Suketu

DJ NYK

DJ Lemon

DJ Shadow Dubai

DJ Dharak

DJ Aqeel

Would appreciate any good sources/accounts/playlists.
