Karla Menjivar and her dad, Mario Menjivar, heard their dogs barking like crazy and brought the dogs in. The dogs are fine. This morning, when they went into the backyard, they noticed some of their bushes were knocked over and discovered a mountain lion up their tree. The authorities were called. The mountain lion is safe in the tree, and they're keeping an eye on it. This happened on Windy Drive in Newbury Park, California.

Ronna heard a rustle from upstairs and looked out to see this bear on the hllside right behind her home on Rustic Oak. She ran to make sure the dogs were secure, then snapped a few photos as he ambled uphill through the brush toward Foxfield Dr.

A grey whale washed ashore at Silver Strand Beach, Oxnard, on Sunday afternoon, May 10, 2026. Local responders and a TowBoatUS Ventura crew secured the site; NOAA-affliated scientists conducted a biopsy Monday before the carcass was towed offshore. The stranding has been logged with NOAA Fisheries' West Coast Marine Mammal Stranding Network (official report pending). Photos/ video from community members show the scale of the animal and the response. Please stay clear of marine mammal carcasses- they are protected and hazardous. I've been checking on the bald eagle nest regularly, and there's always been an adult tending it. Bald eagle eggs typically take 35 days to hatch, so we're watching closely. Hopefully we'll have eaglets soon!
