I’ve played all the games (minus Control Resonant) previously but never done a back to back play-through which was leading up to playing the new Control sequel. Honestly though this series has felt totally epic and I’m very excited for Alan Wake III (which I’m sure will probably be their next game).

I found playing the games in this order felt really good,

Alan Wake remastered (plus DLC’s)
Alan Wake’s American Nightmare
Alan Wake II
Control (plus DLC’s)
Alan Wake II: Final Draft (plus DLC’s)
Control Resonant

Threw in a play-through of Quantum Break after everything as well.

Feel totally frazzled now but in a good way.

Since we all know they clearly want it to align more with BG3 and lay the groundwork for going into BG4 then I should imagine the world will be condensed into ‘acts’ and each one has a section of the original BG1 map.

For instance BG3 has the prologue on the nautiloid and then Act 1 is ravaged beach, Wither’s tomb, Emerald Grove, swamps, Waukeen’s Rest, abandoned village and the goblin camp/Temple of Selune with the Underdark being a separated ‘underground’ section.

In the BG1R I can imagine them modelling it as a prologue at Candlekeep and then after Gorian’s death you are open to free roam the first ‘world’ of the game which I should imagine would contain the Friendly Arm Inn, Beregost, Nashkel (Nashkel mines probably being a separate underground section similar to the Underdark in BG3) and the gnoll stronghold so you can recruit Dynaheir. Small forest/country/rocky roads interlinking them like the main areas in BG3’s Act 1 map with various npc’s. Act 2 for BG1R could then transport you to include the bandit camp, Cloakwood (which I hope will be remade to be as atmospheric as the Shadow Cursed lands in BG3), Ulgoth’s Beard and Durlag’s tower leading up to a similar Act 3 taking place in Baldur’s Gate.

Ultimately I’m looking forward to the remakes. I just hope they actually happen and although I know they’re unlikely to arrive before 2030 I hope we’re not waiting until 2040!

In all honesty I see there being a high chance of them remaking RE6 unless by then (and we’re probably talking at least 8-10 years until they get around to RE6R) the remake era of games has died a death.

After Veronica now being officially announced it’s probably safe to say the rumours of 0 being the next remake scheduled for release in 2028 are also true. We all know that 5 and 1 will get remakes (re-remakes in RE1’s case) we just don’t know which will come first. To leave solely one mainline (non-RE engine) game out from being remade seems like an opportunity to make lots more money that Capcom probably doesn’t want to miss out on.

However if they do remake Resident Evil 6 it will undoubtedly be retooled and for me one of the biggest issues of the game was how much of a slog it felt due to the length. Personally I’d be happy if they made RE6R a Chris and Leon only game. Jake was a cool character but they never went anywhere with him so in all honesty I’d rather have the game condensed by just having Chris and Leon’s campaigns with perhaps Sherry and Jake’s campaign retooled to fit in as secondary characters during both of the campaigns.

Don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed The Short Message for what it was, I had fun playing F and I’m intrigued by Townfall but I do hope we get some games in the future that actually feel like mainline Silent Hill games (1-4) as at the moment it feels like between the remakes we’re just getting ‘spin-off’ games using the Silent Hill name.

I’d even be down for Heather coming back to bring her story to a close with a trilogy. Perhaps now she is a mother and her child is taken by Silent Hill in a parallel to the original game.

I am loving the Silent Hill reinvigoration but once the remakes have been done (I think 3 is pretty much guaranteed and maybe 4 if the remakes are still selling well) I hope we don’t just get ‘Silent Hill: Set in a different continent’ game after game.

I’ve been a fan since the original. Hoped the franchise would return after the original trilogy ended. Was very sad when it looked like Scream 4 might be the unintended end. I’m aware that considering we’re on the seventh film of the franchise and many many horror franchises are much worse than this I should take it as a win but I really can’t help that the franchise feels soulless at this point.

I don’t really care about the characters anymore. Sidney just seems almost like an inhuman template of a final girl. Don’t get me wrong I don’t want Sidney completely breaking down but even with Scream 7 I wanted it to delve more in to Sidney’s trauma and her now dealing with it affecting her family.

They’ve completely made Gale kind of useless at this point. Finally we got some decent character development with her at the end of 5 and then it’s all thrown away. Gale in Scream 7 was really just there to be there and this point her character is just going to be there for nothing but quippy one liners. I don’t want Gale to just be killed off but can the writers actually give her something to do other than just ‘being there’.

Chad and Mindy are just a complete waste of airtime and at this point are purely there to appease the hardcore Scream 5/6 fans. Shame as they’re both great actors and the characters have potential but like Gale they just seem to be there for quippy one liners and for some reason neither of them can be killed which ironically if one of them were killed it would give the other twin something real to portray on screen with the trauma of loosing their sibling etc.

The new characters are just getting more forgettable and more forgettable. Are we supposed to feel bad for Tatum in Scream 8 when she’s grieving her friends that were murdered that we got to spend about 5 minutes with??? Compare how much more of an impact characters like Tatum (original), Hallie, Jennifer Jolie, Kirby even Sarah Darling made compared to Tatum’s friend group.

Of course I’ll be there opening night for Scream 8 but my god I really really just hope we don’t get more forgettable characters who are there to be quickly killed in an OTT fashion, Chad and Mindy to provide filler scenes, Gale to give us a glimpse of character development only for it to be quickly disregarded, Sidney once again being untouchable and acting like all of these attacks are nothing more than an irritating inconvenience.
