




The Guardians of the Dafeng - Your Episode Guide (One-Sentence Recaps)

When I was preparing for the GOTD rewatch, I prepared these 1-sentence recaps so that it could be easier for the cohosts to write our posts in advance (in case we needed to know where we were in the plot).
Now that the rewatch has wrapped up, and some of us might be interested in rewatching anytime again between now and when Season 2 is released, I thought I'd share this with everyone - especially if you don't feel like watching all 40 episodes again and only want to revisit favourites.
I've included the links to all of our rewatch posts as well, should anyone want a longer recap of what happened in the episodes. I hope you find this as a useful reference because I know I'm still using it.

Episode 29 ->! The Furious Vajra Dharma appears just as Xu Qi’an discovers that the War Supervisor used the Battle of Linyuan Pass to steal a palace treasure and subsequently erased all records of himself.!<
Episode 30 - >!Tianyu demands the return of Shen Shu, but the Supervisor informs them that Shu needs Xu Qi’an to cultivate and advises the Emperor to summon him to break the formation and demonstrate Dafeng’s strength over Tianyu.!<
Episode 31 - >!Trapped in an illusion of his life as Yang Ling, Xu Qi’an must defeat the Dharma by successfully enduring a spiritual tribulation that questions the meaning of life.!<
Episode 32 ->! The secret treasure inside Xu Qi’an is the Royal Fortune and the Hypnotizer wants him; the Emperor grants Xu Qi’an the title of viscount but is also threatened by him and wants him dead.!<
Episode 33 ->! Xu Qi’an is sent to Chuzhou to investigate Duke Zhenbei and the bloodshed case as the Lead Investigator; Yunlu Academy gives him magic powers to help on the dangerous mission.!<
Episode 34 - >!Xi Qi’an wants to find out why the Kui tribe wants Duchess Zhenbei, but confirms that they are not behind the bloodshed. !<
Episode 35 ->! Xu Qi’an finds the real Zheng Xinghuai and confirms Duke Zhenbei sacrificed 360,000 civilians to harvest their Qi and reach 2nd-rank (via a Witcher’s Sect ritual).!<
Episode 36 - >!After defeating Duke Zhenbei and the Kui Chief, Xu Qi’an persuades Xinghuai to return to the Capital as a primary witness to expose the Duke’s crimes and seek justice for Chuzhou.!<
Episode 37 - >!Lord Wei advises Xu Qi’an to stay out of court politics while the Emperor grieves his brother’s death and avoids everyone petitioning for justice regarding the Chuzhou Massacre.!<
Episode 38 - >!Instead of convicting Duke Zhenbei and damaging the reputation of the imperial family, the Emperor schemes to accuse Xinghuai of colluding with the Kui and killing the prince. !<
Episode 39 - >!Xinghuai declines the Guardians’ protection and is tortured to death by Yongxiu and Duke Cao, pushing Xu Qi’an over the edge and forcing him to take justice into his own hands.!<
Episode 40 - >!Xu Qi’an exposes the truth of the Chuzhou Massacre, publicly executes Yongxiu and Duke Cao, and was about to face off the Emperor when the Hypnotizer casts the Mystify spell and erases all traces of Xu Qi’an.!<
Season 1 >!Cliffhanger - Six months later, the Emperor is forced to issue an edict of introspection and self-reflect in seclusion while Lord Wei dies heroically battling the Witcher’s Sect. Dafeng sees peace under the rule of the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. In exchange for Lord Wei’s body, Xu Qi’an confronts the Hypnotizer who reveals:!<

Post Credits - >!Yang Ling and friends wrap up Part 1, commenting that Part 2 will be about the Witcher’s Sect and the moderator asking Yang Ling if he understands the last line that was delivered by the man in black, to which he answers no and the host says “next time”.!<
