It's a tile shard I found in the street, a packing tape transfer of a self portrait I did in my 20s, strip of masking tape, and a typed out diary excerpt. The diary excerpt is my current defense mechanism which is basically the idea that I am not too much, other people are just not enough.
"I am a lot, I am so many. I am the whole universe and most have just barely been born and can't take all of reality; they need a swaddle and a breast, they cannot handle a god"
childhood trinket from the 90s, tablets I was prescribed (my cptsd was incorrectly diagnosed as schizoaffective disorder when I was 20 which kept me nice and docile), miniature baby bottle.
Gouache. The squares are imperfect otherwise they're around 3x3 inches
I did this a year ago. I have a freeze response, so I often look really composed. This is how I'm really feeling under that facade.
Key, strategic text cut-out from a book, vintage figurine from childhood, candle stub, an inkjet print of a photograph I took at a historical cemetery on which I wrote in correction pen "Will You come back to me in the next life? As someone who could love me?", pressed flowers old and new, craft paper in a shadowbox.
I started this a few months ago then paused it. I keep it around for when I'm brain foggy.
