Sleep training 6MO with Ferber. Are we on the right track?

We're working with a sleep consultant on sleep training our 6 month old. We're using what I think it's Ferber. I'm looking for a bit of reassurance that we're on the right track, or anything we should be doing differently to run by the consultant.

Our objective is to have him fall asleep on his own. Currently he sleeps well in his crib or bassinet, but we have to rock him to sleep every time.

For bed time, we feed him 30 mins before bed then wind down with bath, book, then crib. He bawls as soon as we put him down. We leave him for 12 mins if he's crying hard, and stop the timer if he's kinda moderately crying. First night, it was 28 mins of crying between 2 sessions. Last night was much more difficult, with like 45 mins of crying between a few sessions.

For naps, it's also a ton of crying. Yesterday was 8 mins before the first nap, but we gave up after an hour for the second nap and took him out.

Wake windows are roughly 2.5/3/3.5/3.5 depending on nap length. We're putting him in the crib at 8pm and he woke up around 6:30am today.

Does this seem right? Is there anything we should be doing differently? I'm concerned because he's always been a super smiley baby and these 2 days he hasn't been at all.

[AB] Anyone know what the westcoastkids event discounts will be?

I'm looking for a bugaboo butterfly 2 stroller for travel in a few weeks. I'm wondering if it's worth registering for their upcoming paid event in the hopes that they have some discounts on it. I don't want to waste my money on that event, so wondering if anyone has any idea what they might offer.

We're going on a road trip with a 6 month old. He hates being in his car seat and just cries while in it.

We've never really had him around screens, but notice he does really try to watch the TV the few minutes here and there we have it on around him.

We're thinking a low stim show might be an option for the road trip. Is there any risk to this? I'm concerned about forming habits where he becomes reliant on screens for soothing in the car or elsewhere.

Looking for info on if there's any drawback to having him watch a show in the car, and if that's potentially more harmful than having him cry.

We're taking a summer road trip and looking for advice on driving long distances with a 6 month old.

Our baby despises his carseat and I'm wondering if anyone has found effective ways to sooth their baby while driving. We're doing a sample drive early next week, so looking for as many ideas as possible to test out beforehand.
