Snake Bite Preparedness

Hunting our dogs, especially early season, can put them in conflict with snakes. Inspired by a recent snakebite post I thought I'd summarize the expert advice.

- Do put your dog through a snake avoidance clinic

- Do rush your dog to a vet after an envenomation

- Do not give NSAIDs or Steroids, either can make things worse

- Both can kill your dog

- Do not give Benadryl, it doesn't help unless there's a rare allergic reaction to the venom

- The vaccine is not recommended and there's some evidence it may increase risk of that allergic reaction

Give the NSS website a look and get on their Facebook page so you can get urgent support from experts. Follow the posting and commenting rules.

While you're planning a hunting trip, look up vets with antivenom and call them before going to verify it's actually in hand. Save the contact info of the closest vet with antivenom and the closest 24/7 vet with antivenom.

2 for 1.... or 3 or 4 or....

So I found out yesterday's there is a very high chance I have endometriosis, have to do a biopsy to confirm but thats another story. I told my SO and he said what if you dont have RA? What of its all because of endometriosis? While I understand this can happen, I have been confirmed RA since 2012. I have 2 rheumatologist confirm this and I've taken about every RA drug under the sun, some worked some didnt but i know how i felt when they didnt work and what my body was going through.

Has anyone else had something similar happen? How likely is it that i was incorrectly diagnosed by multiple people, medical professionals? RA does run in my family some what....

Couldn't sleep last night restless legs drove me batshit and now Im exhausted and have to go to work. My skin hurts, my fingers hurt, the skin around my fingers hurts. Im so gd tired of being in pain and being exhausted. I dont want to wear clothes, I dont want to have a blanket on me, and dont anyone dare to touch me bc i just might snap.

How do I address this slow soul crushing exhaustion? How do I make it through the day when I want to cry bc my skin is on fire. RA is bullshit, autoimmune diseases are bullshit. In my crabby painful state I am sending love and gentle hugs to anyone who is feeling what I am.
