Portfolio Update #4 (Jul '26)

Added 106 shares at an average cost of 55.

I was tempted to post when the portfolio crossed 670k in early June, but stuck to my rule of posting once per quarter instead of reacting to short-term moves.

Strategy: Simple buy & hold. No hedging. 100% TQQQ.

Started accumulating in Nov '21 and plan to hold for the long term.

For anyone just starting: don't fear falling prices during your accumulation phase. Lower prices let you accumulate more shares.

My thesis remains unchanged: I believe QQQ (and TQQQ) has a strong long-term future because technology continues to advance, and its underlying companies generate revenue globally—not just from the U.S.

Lump sum at ATH in Nov 2021 and still 2x? Yeah, it happened.

If you YOLO’d a lump sum at the Nov 2021 peak and just… did nothing, your money has likely doubled in <5 years.

Even "worst timing" worked if you didn’t sabotage yourself.

The hard part was never the math. It was this:

  1. Getting started - Most people wait for the “perfect entry” and stay 0% invested forever.

  2. Having conviction - You need to actually believe in what you own(qqq here) when headlines scream crash.

  3. Keep investing through all times - SIPs in 2022 bear market felt dumb. That’s where the 2-10x was built.

  4. Not panic selling the dips - 2022,2023 banking scare,2024 correction: -12%. Sell there = game over.

  5. Sticking to the strategy you started with - B&H, straddle, 200 EMA, whatever. Strategy hopping = underperformance.

Time in the market > Timing the market. Again.

The market rewards behavior, not IQ.

What’s the hardest one for you?

For me it’s #5. The itch to “optimize” is real but somehow managed to B&H without fail for last 4.5 years.

ATH means nobody who bought and held is in loss.

If you can handle TQQQ at its lows, it will show magic during its highs.

Has It Happened Before? — The "100% Club"

Broader Context: All Major Runs (≥ 50%)

The full historical scan of TQQQ, I found 36 distinct episodes of ≥ 50% gains within 60 trading days. They cluster around identifiable macro events: post-GFC QE rallies (2010–2012), Fed pivots (2018–19), the COVID rebound trilogy (2020), bear-market relief rallies (2022–23), and the tariff shock rebound (2025). The 2026 run joins this elite list — but at a pace no prior run matched from a comparable starting point.

Three things make the 2026 run unique:

  1. Fastest doubling ever — 3.62%/day, beating even the COVID rebound (3.11%/day), which had the benefit of launching from a −67% crash.
  2. Shallow prior drawdown — Every other comparable run launched from a −46% to −67% hole. The 2026 run doubled from just a −22% dip.
  3. Virtually no interruption — Max intra-run drawdown of only −3%, far tighter than any prior comparable run.

Only 5 prior episodes in TQQQ history achieved a comparable magnitude (≥ 95% gain). The 2026 run stands apart on speed

My Strategy and Suggestion to others

If you believe in the underlying of leveraged ETFs (tech stocks in the case of TQQQ), start by investing small amounts periodically over 12–15 months. That will give you a real sense of the emotions you'll go through during ups and downs - and how your brain reacts during panic and euphoria.

I’ve been 100% in TQQQ since 2021. My approach is plain vanilla buy-and-hold until I reach $1M(Currently at 560k on invested capital of 220k), and then withdraw ~0.3% monthly (~4% annually).

My general suggestion:
• When you're young or working with small capital - focus on periodic investing and holding it
• When capital grows to a significant size - diversify and protect a baseline

Avoid running too many strategies, especially when your base is small. Keep it simple.

If you want to play safe, it's usually better to choose non-leveraged products rather than trying to make leveraged products “safe” through complex strategies.

Its less of strategy and more of behaviour
