Is med school still realistic with 10 extenuating withdrawals on my transcript?
I transferred to UBC with 48 credits from Capilano. I have 8 extenuating withdrawals (EW) (withdrawals due to extreme circumstances/beyond my control) and 2 regular withdrawals on my transcript, I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2023 but wasn’t on proper medication until 2025—the withdrawals happened during that unmedicated period. I’m planning to register with UBC’s Centre for Accessibility and have formal accommodations. I’m aiming for straight A’s in my UBC courses. My question: given all this, am I actually competitive for Canadian med schools, or am I fooling myself? I’ve only had an upward trajectory from there with all A’s. Given that I end up with a good MCAT score, 86-90% overall GPA, and good NAQ, is it still possible?
Also, does having documented ADHD with formal accommodations actually help my file, or is it something I should just keep quiet about?
