Ive been obsessed with warhammer mini painting recently. Ive only painted the starter set, but ive been researching factions, playstyle, and thousands of paints and their combinations in most of my free time

But in reality it’s probably not a smart choice for me to be spending that much money on. Warhammer is expensive. Not only are the minis themselves but also the paints as well. Right now im just a college student with no disposable income and only get monthly allowance from my parents. It is not reasonable for me to spend that much to what when it comes down to it are just overpriced plastic miniatures. My goal is to graduate first then work till im more financially stable and have free time. Then i can buy what i want

It feels really hard to do since ive invested so much of my thinking space into. In my boredom i get the urge to assemble and create something. I just which my special interest had been something cheaper like gunpla or just plain drawing comics or writing novel - something that requires very few investment

Ive painted the starter box and have been eyeing cities of sigmar for a while. However, from all the tiers video ive watch and from just looking at the detail, it seems the faction is rather hard to paint. They are consistently ranked as one of the hardest to paint right after lumineth realm lords

Would it be a good idea for a beginner to miniature painting to start cities as their first army?

They’re usually hunched over and have their arms blocking the way. In some minis i could barely insert the brush through. I either just leave it blank of do a very rough basecoat that because of the limitation have very poor borders between 2 piece of different color cloth. I cant paint any details at all like belts
